1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

Every day we did something new and our hosts Saurabh and later, Sunny, always had a surprise in store! Though it's hard to choose one particular part (because the entire experience was amazing), the memories that will always stay with us - without needing to look at the photos - were the day-to-day interactions and chance meetings that we were fortunate to have with the local people. From watching people go about their daily business, to joining in their celebrations, we genuinely experienced "The Real India". A particularly heart-warming moment happened one morning when we were invited into the home of a tribal family. A young lady sat quietly in the corner of the room and it wasn't until we were leaving that we realised she had given birth just 6 hours before we had arrived! Not only were they delighted for us to visit (I don't think I would have wanted strangers in my house just after giving birth!) but they were insistent that we should not remove our shoes. The people that have so little, seem to give so much more, and everyone we met tried so hard to please us.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Orissa is beautiful, but for us, we found the pace of that stretch of the holiday quite slow. This was somewhat compounded by the later than usual monsoon rains and we found ourselves spending a couple of lazy days sitting on the veranda at Chandori Sai. It was great to have some time to relax but on reflection, and if we did the trip again, we'd probably opt to spend more time in Chhattisgarh instead.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Yes, absolutely.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

Excellent. The organisation was excellent, the standard of accommodation far exceeded our expectations and the flexible nature of the trip means that you can make changes as you go along, depending on how you feel. Saurabh and his team are dependable, reliable and efficient, and have a vast knowledge of local culture and wildlife.
