1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
We loved every moment of our holiday. There are two super special memories that come to mind. First, on the night we arrived we got to attend a celebration of a Virgil Oak tree that grows on the grounds of La Cerqua (near 'La Balucca', where we were staying) - to gather with the family and over fifty local people to celebrate and honour this tree, and the land on which it is growing, with music played by local musicians, and homemade acorn bread. Secondly, on two separate occasions we got to enjoy a bundle of fresh produce from the garden - the most delicious figs, courgettes, courgette flowers, lettuces, cucumbers, tomatoes... This place is really run with so much heart. It's like living in a vision of how the world could be if we treated each being with kindness, respect, and open heartedness.2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
It does get very hot in the Summer, so bring plenty of sun protective gear for walking - the buildings themselves stay nice and cool though. Surprisingly, we did not have many problems with mosquitoes, though on one of the walks (along a river) there were quite a few hungry horseflies. In general, we found the description was very accurate, and the family who run the property know many things about the local area, so can provide really excellent guidance. The 'leaf peeping' guided walk with Gino was wonderful.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
For sure. This place is the real deal.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
We loved it here, and felt very very lucky to be able to spend time with such wonderful humans and non-humans, in a deeply cared-for place. If you like beautiful landscapes, delicious food, kindness, slowness, deep listening, and holidaying in the rhythms of nature, we think you'll love it too. We send a big thank you to each and every one of the family and the team who took such great care of us. Thank you Gino, Silvana, Filippo, Armonia, and Flo!Angela Petrou review 13 Aug 2018
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
No single memorable part - but overall great family holiday.2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Met the needs of different members of the family - walks, riding, pool, close to other small towns so it was also good for day trips. ( car needed for trips)3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Yes4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Relaxing, away from crowds, there is a choice to completely cut off and enjoy what the farm has to offer or combine with trips to local medieval townsSue Hammond review 31 Aug 2017
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Many memorable moments, but probably the bell ringers in Gubbio, the Medieval procession in Montane and the guided walk with Gino and new friends also staying at La Cerqua.2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
We loved the balcony that was attached to our room-a lovely spot for relaxing, reading, socialising. The room itself was spacious and pleasant. Try the great meals served in the evenings. There are some wonderful cultural and historical sites within a reasonable distance so lots to do other than sit by the pool.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Hope so but not sure with the environmental impact of flights and using a car. There didn't appear to be much local industry and many farms offered agrotourismo so am assuming this brings benefits to communities that have seen many of their young people move to cities.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Excellent! It was very relaxing but we also had many wonderful experiences and met some very friendly people. (Only blight was the falling £)Charlotte Chadderton review 17 Aug 2017
