1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
The whole trip was memorable and exciting. We experienced the Sahara in all it's glory, the majestic High Atlas, gorges, high mountain passes and tiny villages where the local people live and work in the fields as they have done for centuries. The itinerary was full of highlights. The time spent in the desert was particularly memorable. Most tours take you to the edge of the Sahara late in the day so you can 'overnight' there and then you are taken back to 'civilisation' early next morning. We really got to experience the desert for a few days - not all of it comfortable - but we felt as though we had actually been there. We travelled on roads the tour buses could never navigate. The crossing of the High Atlas on single lane rough roads was nothing short of spectacular!2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Go with an open mind, a sense of humour and a relaxed attitude. You will be thrilled by what you do and see. However, if you are prone to car sickness, are afraid of leaving the bitumen and you lack the ability to 'go with the flow' this is not your ideal trip. It would be impossible to run a rigid itinerary or to maintain a star rating for comfort and amenity. These things varied enormously but that's just 'off the beaten track' Morocco. We were well fed, we slept comfortably - sometimes in luxury - sometimes not, we experienced the real Morocco, we were warmly welcomed wherever we went and most importantly - we had loads of fun. I would also recommend you spend a few extra days pre and/or post tour to see more of Marrakech or other cities in Morocco, if you have the time. This is specifically a mountain, gorge and desert tour.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
The environmental impact of this trip was very low. Our driver/guides were local mountain and desert people who had an enormous respect and love for their country. We were able to visit a nomad family in the Sahara and helped them with some vital supplies. We stopped in the desert to pump water from a well where camels and donkeys were waiting to drink. We stayed in small riads employing local people. We dined in local restaurants in villages and towns we passed through.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Outstanding! If you want to see the real Morocco - this is the only way to do it.Holiday Reviews
