Reviews for Greece walking holiday, Zagorohoria and Lefkada island
Max Rathmell review 21 Sep 2019
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
It has to be the walk down the Vikos Gorge. The talk buy the herbalist on Lefkada was also fantastic.2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Expect paths to be often in poor condition, but don't rush and you'll be OK. In September expect some rain in Zagoria. It rained after 4.0pm most days.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Tricky one. Obviously our spend was of benefit to local people, especially as we extended by 3 days. If this helps reduce environmental damage then that would be good but some continuing damage is still evident. For example cattle grazing around Drakolimni (Alpine lake) which we reached during our extension. The amount of bird life was disappointing but there was some (unconfirmed) evidence of bear presence. Clearly and somewhat amazingly the absence of construction activity outside of the existing villages is a key to the attraction of this area, together with traditional construction designs. We did shockingly learn however that the Government has granted a licence to explore for frackable hydrocarbons in the area.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Excellent. Everything went well and was enjoyed.Holiday Reviews
