1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

The day riding to Ranakpur and actually being able to manage 80km on a very hot day The hotels we stayed in were all amazing in different ways.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Don’t hesitate, just do it. The gentleman, Sabir, running couldn’t have been more helpful in the planning stage and during the tour. The guides we had were great: Aman cycling with us and Vijay in the support car. It was very hot when we cycled but that was at the end of the season in March. We had frequent stops for cold juice and water. We took our own saddles and pedals which made cycling more comfortable but the bikes were perfectly good and well maintained anyway. We started the tour in Udaipur so had to cycle in traffic. Initially it looked terrifying but in truth I have never felt so safe on a bike in traffic. Unlike the uk.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Vijay knew all the best little shops to find cake, lassi, blocks of ice. We tried snacks from street vendors. There weren’t many opportunities for this due to cycling in some remote areas but felt our cash was going into the local community. The hotels were locally owned, local guides employed for monument visits. Local taxi or tuktuk used too. Not a single pizza, burger, multinational coffee was on offer or consumed! I’m not sure about environmental impact. We took numerous flights to get there and back, a car followed us along the whole cycle route but we left no litter. We turned the aircon off and opened the windows in our hotel rooms if that helps.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

We had a wonderful time. We cycle a reasonable amount in the uk but my wife had never done a multi day tour before and never covered the distances we did before but found it remarkably easy and extremely rewarding. Being out in the Indian countryside was wonderful.
