Reviews for Camino de santiago walking holiday for families with teenagers
Ian Schagen review 25 Jul 2021
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
It was all pretty memorable. Obviously one key moment was actually arriving at the cathedral in Santiago after walking for two weeks. There were lots of other great memories - the changing landscapes, the different town and villages, the other walkers. Climbing up to O Cebreiro in the sunshine was pretty memorable, with the scenery all around. Storks and frogs in the first section, horreos in the second part.2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Practise walking long distances, and make sure your footwear is comfortable for the long haul. Take clothing for both hot and cold weather, as well as wet and dry - you will likely get all sorts. Don't overeat at breakfast or lunch - have your main meal in the evening. Watch out for manic cyclists!3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Hard to say. I think those that live along the Camino benefit financially, and many seem to owe their living to it. Otherwise, there must be an impact on the environment from all those people walking through.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
