Do NOT opt for the “ hike” . It is more like a hill climb than any kind of walk at the beginning. There is no discernible path in many places and two fallen trees blocked our route forcing the guide to find a diversion path.The steep part lasts for about 40mins. The 20 minute walk at the summit does offer lovely views but is followed by a long walk along the road in the village- there is no pavement. Not my idea of a pleasant walk!3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
The stay in the guest house was obviously the main source of income for the elderly owners .4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

Going to see the bears in the forest - we saw 4 bears!2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Be prepared for long (but very enjoyable) days Be prepared for a strenous walk on day 4 Don't take loads of clothes but do layer up as the temperatures fluctuate.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Definitely benefitted local people as we ate out all the time and we were given the opportunity to buy local crafts at markets. Definitely supported conservation through the bear visit.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

You need to be able to walk up steps when visiting the castles and the hike was quite steep, so beware if you have knee problems in particular3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
I feel that the money we paid for our visits to the bear hide went back into protecting the environment and employing the ranger supports conservation. Romania is not well known as a tourist destination, so by visiting the attractions and using local restaurants etc we will have benefited the local economy.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
I thoroughly enjoyed the trip: we had the city tour in Bucharest to start with, then the experience of the stunning natural environment as a contrast. We learned about the complex history of the country and were thrilled to see bears on two occasions. Our guide was great, and the group gelled really well which enhanced the experience. The downside for me was the very basic standard of accommodation in Moieciu and the minibus broke down on the way to the airport.Holiday Reviews
