1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

Everything! But walking the Deliana Gorge with no other people around (just goats) was definitely one of top highlights. Our son loved the snorkeling trip... he loved it so much we went twice! The hidden gems the local team showed us, such as the 5000 year old olive tree and the Bizantian church made from the ruins of Roman baths, really left us amazed. We also managed to catch part of a local art Festival, and loved attending a couple of concerts ... even if we didn't understand what they were singing!

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Don't try to plan every day before you go. We had some ideas but Iakovos had plenty of suggestions that made the trip really special. And enjoy Cretan hospitality!

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Yes. The hotel we stayed in was run by lovely Greek people. The snorkeling trip was run by a local firm. We ate in the local restaurants close to the hotel. Kissamos depends on small tourism so we felt we were helping the local businesses.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

One of the best holidays we had! We loved learning about West Crete and its history, as well as enjoying its beautiful landscape. We had plenty of great food that we are now trying to recreate at home!

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

The Sunny Bay Hotel in Kissamos, Crete, was a wonderful place to stay for a week with the family. The highlights for us, were the trip to Knossos and the archaeological museum in Heraklion (that was over two hours by car, although a coach trip is organised once a week), and also the Cretan cooking lesson which was wonderful. The pool and sea were still a little on the chilly side in May for our kids, but there were plenty of people using the pool and swimming in the sea. The restaurant provided a very good range of things for breakfast and the dinner menu was also very nice.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Be aware that if you want to do anything sea related, you may not be able to due to weather conditions. We wanted to go kayaking, but couldn't because the currents were too strong and we had a warning of thunder storms! However, our provider did provide an alternative experience, so it's always worth bearing that in mind.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

It was great staying in a family run hotel and the excursions we'd booked through the tour operator were all arranged with local suppliers.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

A really lovely and memorable holiday, where all our arrangements (except the kayaking!) worked really well.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

Snorkeling (first time ever!), the food, the wonderful people we met, and the beauty of the landscape and its history.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Be prepared to have a relaxing holiday with enough time to truly let the beauty of this part of Crete sink in to your soul - from the history and ruins to the food, landscape, and hospitality of the people who live and work here. Younger children might not be as interested in the archaeology aspects unless they are taken with Greek mythology or archaeology in general.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Iakovos was our guide and was very knowledgeable about the history of the area around Kissamos and his pride in his heritage and local history was beautiful to see and listen to. Sunny Bay Hotel is a family owned business and has wonderful service, food, and I would stay there again in a heartbeat! Ermioni and Manolas with the Kissamos Diving Center were great teachers for our snorkeling and Manolas showed us wonderful delights under the sea - happy brain! As near as I can tell everything about this holiday benefited local people and had a low environmental impact. I don't know about conservation.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

My grandson and I had a wonderful time together making memories and enjoying being alive. It was about as perfect as a holiday can get!
