1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

Baalbek was astonishing, Damascus gave me goosebumps walking through such a wealth of history. Palmyra was haunting, but for me Krak des Chevaliers was the pinnacle of this trip, as I’d wanted to visit for the 15 years but could not - it was spectacular and didn’t disappoint. While walking through the church/mosque in the castle, our Muslim guide sung the ‘Call to prayer’ for the faithful, to demonstrate the acoustics. It was flipping amazing and a memory I’ll never forget ??

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

It’s an interesting part of the world with so much history. Both the Lebanese and Syrians, are slowly recovering from internal conflicts but are eager to welcome visitors and show the world what they have to offer international travellers.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

The one criticism I had was the hotels and the minibus used could have had a water dispenser to allow us to fill up water bottles and drastically cut down on the plastic we generated during this fascinating trip. Syria is still recovering from internal conflict, where its waste infrastructure is not functioning properly. By allowing us tourist to fill up reusable water containers would have reduced our plastic impact and helped this situation.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

Well worth travelling to this fascinating part of the world - I defy you not to be amazed!

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

Finally being able to visit Syria.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Travel light. You are able to wear short sleeved tee-shirts and weather was very warm. Excellent hotels that include breakfast so just need cash (dollars or local currency). Don’t take credit cards in Syria and in Lebanon prefer cash.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Yes. Breakfast was in the hotels but lunch and dinner was eaten in local restaurants, (your choice).

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

Excellent, super guides and learnt lots.
