1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

There was no "one" memorable part of our trip. The whole trip was memorable. From swimming with sea lions and penguins to seeing monkeys and sloths in the trees to all the beautiful birds and butterflies, It was ALL memorable! The landscape, the mountains, the volcanoes (if you could see them) will always be in our memories. The three guides we had made it all possible and memorable.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Come prepared for the changing climates as you go throughout the country.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Mostly

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

We had a great time and really enjoyed our time all over Ecuador. Our main guide was Antonio Jaramillo. He is an avid birder and made sure we had every opportunity to see the wildlife. He started as our guide and became our friend by the end of the trip. He even brought his daughter with us on one of our hikes.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

It's impossible to pick the most memorable part of our trip since we had so many 'bests' in The Galapagos islands, the cloud forest, and the Amazon.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Book with Sinead to insure a seamless, and awe-inspiring trip. Bring dramamine/patch if going to the Galapagos.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Absolutely, particularly in the Amazon.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

This is the second trip in which we've used this operator. The first was to the Pantanal in Brazil, which was one of the best trips we've taken. The second was to Ecuador (Quito, Galapagos Islands, the cloud forest, and the Amazon) totaling 3 weeks. We didn't think a trip could ever exceed our Pantanal experience, but this one did, thanks to the operator who arranged every single detail flawlessly! I was very concerned about how all of the multiple internal flights, boats, car transports, lodges, hotels, etc., would pan out, but their deep knowledge of the area and immediate responses to my 100 emails/inquiries set my mind at ease and made the entire trip stress-free. Every accommodation, guide, and transfer was thoroughly vetted and executed - we really felt like royalty. They tailor-made our trip to fit our very specific requests, and to our overwhelming and sheer delight, we had the time of our lives! Thank you Sinead!

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

The wildlife! It was fascinating to learn more about the different species on each island, and then actually get to see them. The snorkeling was the best we've ever done, and I will never ever forget the up-close encounters I had with a sea lion, green turtles, penguins and marine iguana! It was the experience of a lifetime!

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Make sure you thoroughly read about and understand what the itinerary and activities will be like. This is not a "cruise." The days are full and active. You need to be able to walk on uneven surfaces and get in and out of the zodiac boats. You also need to be able to handle heat, wind, and sometimes rough seas.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

I think tourism in the Galapagos benefits local people, but I am conflicted about the environmental impacts and conservation. Our guide told us that 2023 would be a record year for visitors. Because everything needs to be shipped to the islands (food, fuel, etc.), that creates more pollution from transport. The more people, the more waste/trash/pollution. Everyone on our boat respected the animals and did as our guide requested, but we heard stories that this is not always the case, so I worry about the safety of the animals. I am shocked at how many people I know who have no idea where Galapagos is or what makes the islands so special. Tourism helps people become aware of this special place, and to hopefully want to protect it. But at the same time, I could not help feeling guilty for being part of the problem (too many people) and very, very sad to see the impact humanity has already had on the wildlife and the land. More pressure needs to be put on the Ecuadorian government to protect the Galapagos, even if it means limiting tourism.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

Spectacular!

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

The Galapagos.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

If you are interested in snorkelling & have a small wet suit take it. Can be $75 to hire. Although water not too cold you feel it if you are snorkelling for 30-40 mins. Be prepared for some choppy seas so if offered, take motion sickness tabs offered by the boat. They are very good

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Benefitted locals and wildlife only by bringing income to the islands. I was impressed by the strict limitation on access to the islands.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

Surprising and amazing.
