1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
The whole trip was fabulous, but highlights were the homestay at Dewalokam and the Houseboat in the Backwaters. The hosts at Dewalokam were so lovely from the minute we arrived to the moment we left, and the Houseboat was so relaxing, watching village life as we floated by. Kayal Island Resort was also such a lovely place to spend a few days, very simple, but again such a lovely team looking after us. Kochi was also unexpectedly good.2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Don't pack to much, in Kerala there are so many lovely clothes to buy at the the local shops and markets, and note that its a good idea to cover up shoulders and knees when out and about. If you like birdwatching take binoculars and a camara with a zoom to see all the kingfishers and other birdlife, at Dewalokam and on the Houseboat.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
I think so, when we went on the village tours our guide stopped so we could talk to local craftsmen, farm workers, coconut harvesters, etc, and if they had time to give us a demonstration, our guide would pay them for their time, meaning it was going direct to the villagers. In terms of the environment, most places had a no single use plastic policy,4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
It was our first time to India and we only stayed in Kerala, but we loved it and hope to go again, the people we met were so lovely and the food was amazing. The trip all went so smoothly, we had no problems with any of the pick ups and drops offs, and the drivers and guides we had were all really helpful and friendly.Holiday Reviews
