1. The anticipation on the boat trip over to Mathraki on day 1 2. Seeing turtle tracks on the beach every day and finally swimming over one on the very last day 3. Diving into the clear warm and blue sea for the first time2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
You don't need to be a great swimmer. If you can manage 2km in any stroke you'll be fine. Some people did leisurely breast stroke the whole way. The water is so warm and flat that it's not far off a pool. Pack very light. You could get away with a cabin bag. There's very little to do in the evenings besides relax, chat, read or have a few drinks with fellow swimmers.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Yes it was a family-run hotel and we took it over completely for a week. They provided most meals, and also a member of the family was with us on the boat throughout so they will be earning significantly from these holidays. I don't think it supported conservation particularly but certainly we had minimal impact on the environment while there.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Five stars. I would love to do a trip like this again. The group gelled very quickly, the guides were great and as well as getting in some fun swims my technique improved a little too. The hotel is a little on the basic side but perfectly comfortable, and when the sun sets in the evening and all the daytrippers go back to Corfu you have the island entirely to yourselves.Holiday Reviews
