Reviews for Kenya safari and beach family holiday
Joanne Denne review 4 Aug 2026
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
The animals, the Kenyan people, the landscape.2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
When it is said to get cold in the Mara at night, it really does. Take layers, do not take expensive clothing, washing can be done for free at Instinct of The Mara. Ensure all members of your travel party with mobile phones (including teenagers) purchase an emergency data package for Kenya prior to leaving. Input any emergency numbers given by your tour operator into your phone before you fly. The amount of travelling did get us down a bit, I think we forgot that actually doing a safari is also spending long days on the road. We could not predict that we would not get any sleep on the overnight plane London to Nairobi. With hindsight we should have stayed at a hotel near the Nairobi airport both the day we arrived and the day before we left, instead of at one end of the holiday only. (But if this had been suggested I would probably have said it was a waste of a night and a waste of money) but I strongly feel and therefore recommend to others that it leaves you better prepared and able to enjoy the rest of the wonderful sights in the main element of your holiday. If you travel well you may not need it at all, but families we met with younger kids who travelled straight from Nairobi to safari, said their kids were asleep on the first day of their game drive and missed out.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
100%. The Instinct of The Mara operates in order to cover the conservation costs of an area that is used for migration from The Serengetti to The Mara. They are leasing land off of locals, in order to keep it clear of buildings. They employ local Massai as spotters, camp workers and give employment and empowerment to Massai Women who are unable to conceive and therefore pushed away from the villages. The toiletries provided are very good quality eco products. The Nomad Beach resort also holds conservation at its heart and it is visible wherever you go in the resort, from the forest and turtle preservation to the collection of water from the air conditioning units.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
My whole family thought it was the best holiday ever. The most wonderful experience. 9.5/10Holiday Reviews
