1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

All of it! From the incredibly beautiful swimming spots to the quaint villages we visited, it was incredible. The food was local and outstanding. The skipper knew all the best spots and just where to take us.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Expect tight sleeping spaces and no aircon. Recommend you share expectations up front so you hit the spots you are anticipating. The itinerary is a loose one and adapted to the group and weather so be sure to let the crew know what your deal breakers might be. I also recommend you visit Dubrovnik before or after the cruise and spend your time sailing on the things you cannot do from the shore.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Absolutely

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

Sailing with the holiday provider was amazing with the wind just pushing the Catermaran across the Adreactic sea will the sun was setting . Stunning orange sky's and looking at the islands around us while having our own private party on board with our fantastic crew and other new adventure sailing buddies . Priceless moment for me !

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

If you like adventure , being active and sporty and can get on well with new people . Being flexible with changes as the weather can alter what activities you do for the day and where you end up sailing to .

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Yes the local people heavily rely on tourism for their income . Using vehicles that need human power to get around has a positive impact on the environment and an enjoyment for the individual and being a far more healthy way of getting around .

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

It was one of my best trips and adventures I've had . I loved the fact that every day was full of activities and new adventures exploring the most stunning islands in Croatia .

No tips come to mind. We really enjoyed the trip and didn't seem to need anything more than what was offered.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Our holiday definitely benefited local people - all of our meals were at local restaurants and we were able to pick up supplies at local stores.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

10/10. Amazing trip!

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

The whole trip was memorable but the special part I remember most fondly is riding up to a remote farmhouse for lunch on one of the islands with our fantastic guide - Stefano. Greeted by an energetic friendly dog and a lovely couple who rely mostly on their own produce and a kilometre walk to the nearest road. Lunch was home made bread fresh from the oven, home cured prosciutto, home grown tomatoes and olive oil, washed down with their local red. Coffee was offered after and I dared asked about the possibility of milk.... 'hmm yes, is goats milk ok?' was translated from Croatian into English. How could I say no! He then went out to the barn, cornered the goat and served me warm milk in a little jug. The best coffee I have had in a long time, thank you! Spending 4 days aboard and sailing around the islands, often feeling you were the only ones there, in the capable hands of our captain - Patrick and swimming into a cave just like the Blue Grotto. Most memorable, hard to pick!!!!

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Don't think about it any more, just book it! I would go again. Pack light, don't take too many clothes, swimmers and a hat and ohh mosquito repellant for the evenings. Travel towel was used too to keep bath towel salt free. As we were travelling for a month there was still plenty of room for our suitcases under the bed. There were plenty of opportunities to buy extra snacks and wine, ATM's were available also during the trip. If you are from Australia take some vegemite, everyone was curious. We travelled with our teenage daughter who enjoyed the energy levels of activities and fellow travellers.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

The local communities benefited from us eating at their family run restaurants, using locals who knew the area so well not only for sailing but on land also. Fresh produce was bought daily at local shops for breakfast which was fresh and tasty, served on board and presented beautifully each morning. There was recycling facilities on board, use of non motorised equipment - sail power some of the time, mountain bikes, sea kayaks reduced our impact to the environment dramatically compared to the big cruise ships or party boats.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

This holiday was amazing! From our first point of contact of enquiry through to pre trip accommodation in Dubrovnik, to the trip itself and drop off back at the airport. Attention to detail, timing, allergy requests, sharing of meals with other travellers and crew, encouraging us to go a little further - "it's not far" was definitely worth it. The highlight of our month in Europe. Worth every cent, or should I say Kuna. 10+/10

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

Loved the small villages, cycling and trying the SUP. The catamaran and crew were fantastic

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Dont bother with too many clothes especially if the weather is good but do remember a wind jacket for the boat. Buy snacks for the boat in case you feel peckish...

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Supported economy in small villages

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

Excellent. Would definitely recommend it

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

There were lots! - Sitting on the boat in the sun, under sail, with no noise other than the waves! - learning to paddle board - the clear seas - the storms and torrential rain - the stunning locations

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Take drinking water with you (or buy from shops when you stop) as there is none on the boat. Also there is little fridge space, as you are sharing the small fridge with the crew and other passengers. Most of the islands only take cash. Be prepared for the travel agenda not to work as planned as you have to respect the skipper as to where the weather will allow you to travel to. Allow the crew to suggest where to go as all their suggestions for food were very good. You may be sharing the boat with up to 8 other people so you need to be sociable.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Yes to a degree. We had less sailing than we expected and therefore used the engine more than we would have liked but that was partly because of the poor weather. We visited smaller less touristy resorts so helped the tourism here and definately benefitted local people. The boat had a plastic bottle recycling bin on it!

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

An amazing experience. I am not a sailor and am not confident on boats but I went outside my comfort zone and thoroughly enjoyed it. You are sailing for between 1 1/2 and 4 hours max in a day and the skipper was very good and would not (and did not) go out to sea when the weather was bad. We had 5 teenagers (age 13 to 19) with us. The girls sunbathed and swam, the boys snorkelled and paddle boarded and kayaked whenever we stopped. Personally I would not suggest this for much younger children as they could be bored when sailing. Our guys all had great fun and will remember this for a long time

review 26 Sep 2013

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

I would say having drinks on the boat one evening with the boat under full sail with the sun setting.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Take aqua shoes and flip flops.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

Pretty good bit disorganised, lovely place and people, pity about the plumbing on the boat.

review 24 Jun 2013

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

It was all so wonderful, stunning views, fantastic food and great activities but I think the real highlight was seeing the pods of dolphins play near our boat.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Pack light, go with the flow - things will change but always for the better. Bring decent water shoes, the beaches are not sand so the rocks and pebbles can be sharp underfoot.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Yes, we often ate with local families and the food was amazing - very fresh (just from the garden or sea), wonderfully cooked and often with wine that they had grown in their own vineyards. It was great to see local families benefiting directly from our tour. In addition, our captain was very knowledgable about the local business practices so often steered us to the more responsible vendors.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

The holiday was so much better than I expected, the weather was certainly on our side but there was so much to do and see and all the equipment was provided so there was plenty of choice. If we wanted to go cycling instead of sea kayaking, it was so easy to change, this meant the holiday was much relaxed and felt more personal than having to conform to the needs of a wider group.

review 23 Jun 2013

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

Impossible to pick one memorable moment. The whole holiday was perfect from start to finish.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Relax and go with the flow. It's organised for you.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Yes. A lot of the activities and meals were sourced from local people. The meals were all based around local products.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

Perfect. It was exciting and active whilst also being relaxing. The scenery is beautiful. The boat is very comfy.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

Adventures, cycling, paddle boarding and kayaking off the Catamaran. Great dinners.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Skip the last night in Zaton Bay, poor accommodations and no good dining options.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Not really.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

Very good. Would book through responsible travel again but not this operator, the owner was very distracted with a new person taking over running the business. Appreciated the complimentary guide book form lonely Planet. Will buy these in future.

Read the operator's response here:

Dear Perny, We're glad to hear you overall enjoyed your trip. However we would like to comment on the fact you did not feel there was a benefit from this holiday to the local community, or that it was environmentally responsible. You mentioned that you had great dinners while on this trip. I'm sure you noticed that these dinners were organized with local families in their restaurants. We run this trip in an area where there are more an more large hotel chains opening every day. We choose to work with the small restaurants and private accommodations rather than these large hotels because we want to support local businesses. We bring guests to their restaurants twice every week. Your holiday with us directly contributed to them being able to stay in business and do what they chose to do, rather than being forced to leave their small towns and work at large hotels as maids, waiters and chefs. As for the environmental impact, you wrote you enjoyed cycling, paddle boarding, kayaking and being on the catamaran. Our company chose to promote these activities, rather than for example jet skis, quads or motor yachts exactly because of their low impact on the environment. This has been our philosophy for more than 20 years. Your last night in Zaton Bay - the accommodation is also owned and run by a local family, as are the four restaurants which are within a 15 minute walking distance from the B&B where you were staying. I hope this helps clarify our policy and philosophy when it comes to responsibility towards both the local community and environment.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

The entire trip was memorable and exciting from the activities to the local restaurants.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

This trip was full of activities such as biking, kayaking, swimming and walking so be prepared for an active holiday. The captain of the cataraman was very enthusiastic about providing as much opportunity as he could for various experiences. Also be prepared to enjoy some fabulous local cuisine.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Our captain had a very close relationship with the local residents and we were able to enjoy some fabulous local cuisine.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

This holiday was outstanding!

review 18 Jun 2012

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

The most memorable part of the trip was hanging out on the boat with the other travellers and the captain's sense of humour throughout the trip.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Bring some good water shoes that double as walking shoes and anything you'd like to use for swimming like snorkel gear (can be purchased in the grocery store nearby before you leave), floaties, balls, etc. Also, be open and flexible as the schedule may switch around a bit.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

We definitely felt like the trip benefited locals and was way better for the environment than a cruise ship, especially when we were using wind power to sail.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

This trip was just absolutely amazing and we would highly recommend it.

review 2 Nov 2012

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

The kayaking trip. It was so exhilarating going down waterfalls and enjoying the beautiful scenery.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Don't overpack! The company will provide you with all the equipment you need, including wetsuits and boots for the water activities. I went with a relatively small group (there were 10 of us) and we were all physically pretty fit and tended to go at a fair pace during kayaking and mountain biking, so I would say that a certain level of fitness would help you to get the best out of the activities.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

We shopped locally for food and the guide was always aware of our surroundings and the people around us.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

Excellent! One of the best holidays I've ever had. I felt safe at all times and our guide was absolutely superb. I came back feeling refreshed and like I'd had a proper break from my life in the city.

Yes local restaurants and family houses used for accommodation and dining.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

One of the best holidays I have been on! Perfect combination of relaxing and activities. We have been to places that you would never come across as a normal tourist and got the chance to sample some amazing food, all in all an excellent trip and I would highly recommend it.

review 12 Aug 2011

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

The whole experience was amazing. We did such a variety of activities - hiking, biking, kayaking, swimming, snorkelling, sailing. We loved the diversity of experiences. It was fabulous! Croatia is SO beautiful and the people are wonderful. I think the best part of booking through this tour opertaor was access to local people. We ate the BEST home-cooked meals at local fishermen and farmers' houses. It was very special!

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Do it!

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?

Yes. Absolutely. Many of our meals were eaten at local people's homes, so we paid them directly for their hospitality and food. We were also able to recycle our bottles while on the boat, which we appreciated.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

It was excellent!

review 28 Sep 2010

If you are travelling alone be aware the group may change along the way and you may be left with no ' group ' for company. Out of the 7 day trip I had 3 days of solitude!

review 3 Jul 2005

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

We had a great holiday (one of our best - and we have a lot!!). The most exciting part was snorkelling into a cave whose entrance was only just on the waterline; the most memorable, difficult to say - the company (our group of 6 really gelled), the places we visited (that you can really only get to in a kayak), the islands and their people themselves......

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

This operator were not always the most proactive at communication and we had to chase them on occasion for simple things like, 'is our booking confirmed?' Having said that, everything worked out as it should and it was all 'as advertised' on their website. Our guide, Dom, was excellent.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?

Yes we did. We stayed in local rooms (very comfortable), ate at the local restaurants (very well), drank the local wine, used the local transport, shopped for picnics at the local shop etc. As we were kayaking with a bike ride thrown in, it couldn't have been more environmentally friendly.

4. Any other comments?

I hope this feedback is useful. It really was a memorable holiday. We all vowed not to tell too many people about the area so that it doesn't get spoilt but, being realistic it will get even more popular and I guess our advice would be to go sooner rather than later. Thanks for requesting the feedback. We hope to use your website in the future.
