The hiking, scenery, food, guide, group - everything was excellent.2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Hiking classed as moderate with some challenging parts. If you’re reasonably fit it is doable. I’m 75 and managed it but I do a lot of exercise. The guide didn’t rush us and made sure we had plenty of breaks.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Absolutely - local guesthouses run by families used.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Loved the diverse landscape. We were lucky to see the Easter procession in the village - quite something. Our itinerary had to be modified a little following the damage caused by storm Theresa and we also had a sand storm from the Sahara which meant it was unsafe to hike on one day, however our guide Magdalena was great. She went over and above checking with local authorities, the police,etc on the state of the roads and paths. She did everything possible to maximize our holiday and really helped us to connect with the people and understand the island2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Enjoy. ?? Walking poles are v useful. It is not recommended to drink the tap water but close your both hotels there are Spar supermarkets where you can purchase bottled water etc.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Yes re local people - spending in restaurants, bars etc.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Excellent As always the guides make or break it and Magdalena did a great job. I had a lovely week with a great bunch of people. V smooth driving too by our bus driver - felt v safe on the hairpin mountain roads.Martin Whittington review 18 Jun 2024

The high level mountain walk on the last day between the two peaks of Pico Arieiro and Pico Ruivo, a good path with safety hand holds and spectacular views into the valleys below.2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Bring along a bright mini torch or head torch as there are a few tunnels between valleys, one being 800m in length, so you can see low ceilings and puddles3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Yes, money was spent in local establishments, cafes, restaurants and bars and our guide was always mindful of leaving nothing behind and reducing our impacts on the area.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
A good week's walking, with friendly like minded individuals and an excellent guide. We travelled through a wide range of landscapes along the way. A few points along the levadas where you had to tread carefully due to the path narrowing as a bit of a drop off but everyone managed it and no accidents among us.Holiday Reviews
