1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Staying at the Sarinbuana Eco Lodge in the central highlands was a mystical experience in the midst of a lush rainforest. The food was expertly prepared and delicious with several choices at each meal. The staff were exceptional and made us feel extremely welcome.2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Don't worry about spending too many days in Ubud as the other places are so magical and enchanting that you will wish for more days there.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
We certainly felt that local people were heavily employed at all the places we stayed. Environmental concerns were front and centre at most places we stayed and visited. Conservation and respect for the environment and animal life was requested from us at all stops.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
It was a once-in-a-lifetime trip to an island paradise. This trip has to be experienced!Iris Halm review 22 Feb 2018

the surf lesson2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Bali is fantastic but don't expect off the beaten track in Bali. And shorten your day trips to two destinations per day - otherwise you spend 70% of your time in a car, mostly stuckin traffic. for off the beaten track go to Java.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Partly yes. However, I feel the hotels could have been chosen better, with a preference for smaller, privately owned hotels, rather than big chains. we particularly didn't like the last hotel in Nusa Dua, firstly it was old and the rooms small and noisy, secondly, for me, artificial gated hotel -compounds such as Nusa Dua are the opposite of responsible traveling. Also, I don't understand why responsibletravel put us in touch with an Uk travel agent rather than directly with the local travel organisation destination asia. In my opinion, the travel company didn't add any value but just increased the cost for us. Even worse, we got into a fight with the travel company about the hotel bookings (partly unnecessarily as we found out when we got there).4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Very nice but didn't take sufficiently into account that we were travelling with a kid (which I had specifically asked for). Here at Responsible Travel we represent many different travel specialists, large and small, UK based and locally based. We aim to match you with the best suited specialist for that area.
They all offer holidays that aim to increase the benefits of tourism for local communities, economies and reduce negative impacts on the environments.

We are a family of five with three children aged 11-16, and all enjoyed our whole trip - huge variety of places and activities. The kids particularly enjoyed the beach and nice hotel at the end.2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
The snorkelling at Menjangan Resort was absolutely fantastic. I have never seen so many different beautiful and unusual fish and corals. Ubud was fascinating and a real insight in to Bali culture. Finally Sarimbwana ecolodge was amazing, remote, peaceful and a real retreat from busy life.2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
We wish we had spent another day or so in Ubud. There was so much to do and see there. We skipped the Gitgit waterfall stop which saved some travel time and walked to the 2 waterfalls in the Munduk area when we stayed at Puri Lumbung which were just spectacular. We would probably also reduce the total number of nights in the mountains - say do munduk OR sarimbwana but not both. Maybe we were unlucky but it rained pretty much constantly in the sarimbwana resort which I think is to be expected.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
We visited a couple of cooperatives, a batik coop and a coffee and spice growing set up. However, we were not so impressed by the mongooses being kept in tiny cages to make the Luwak coffee.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Hi I am actually still in Bali. I have 4 more days left by the beach. The most memorable part was the herbal medicine and craft workshops in the mountains. Also the variety of colourful fish and coral at Mentangan Island. Better than the red sea! And of course all the handmade beautiful carvings.2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Move around as I did to see the real Bali and its people. Go off the beaten track into the mountains and explore all the small villages.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Yes there were a lot of locals employed at the eco lodge where I stayed, and in the Puri Lumbung cottages.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Sailing down the river in our private boat in kalamantan looking at the orangutans swinging through the jungle and staying on a remote island near komodo snarkling and watching the birds.2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Definitely book this, it was a well organised and extremeley enjoyable trip.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
We stayed in hotels and lodges run by the local people so all the money went straight to the local people rather than large international organisations. The guides were also local and were very appreciative of our business. Not sure about the elephant safari, we did enjoy our stay but thought it was a bit expensive and it was run by a business man rather than the locals. Although I knew they were trying to save the sumatrian elephant I wasnt sure if those elephants were entirely happy about being chained up.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
