1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

Cycling the Baroque towns of Sicily

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Bring good rain gear..when it rains it pours!

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Yes to all three

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

Excellent holiday with an amazing guide Iris and bike mechanic Giuseppe. However there was an inconsistency to accommodation. Did not enjoy noisy unsound proofed Ferro Hotel in Modica..in a sketchy neighbourhood ..give it a low rating! Also the second nite in an Agritourismo in Tenuto Arangio, second night we bought a full dinner and it was below standard and very expensive with very little food..a small bowl of pasta with microscopic shrimp..no appetizer ..salad or even bread for 26 euros...very poor value and poor quality meals! Would not recommend this place for food..room was clean and comfy, nice pool. The rest of accommodations were very nice esp our first two nights at Palazolla Acre....Colle Acre .food and staff wonderful !! Also, Siracusa accommodation Was awful...no early breakfast..bed room was dirty..with obvious dirty comforters on the twin beds in room. At the end of a long day of cycling..a clean comfy room and good food is a wonderful reward..too bad this trip ended on very poor accomdation. The bikes were great although we had 13 flat tires among four riders..perhaps hybrid bikes would be more durable and suitable for terrain..as it could be very rough. Would give Iris and Giuseppe five stars but accommodation only was two to three stars except for the ones I mentioned above.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

Well, most memorable was possibly cycling up a zig zag mountain road in the teeming rain with a river coursing down the road!! That was freak weather though. Most memorable in a good way was the wild flowers, which were everywhere and spectacular, and the food, which was the best I have ever eaten.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Do some training riding up hills! On two of the days there are very long climbs (and very long descents afterwards). Bring clothes for a wide range of weathers if travelling in April as it can be cool and wet, but when the sun comes out it can also get pretty hot.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

I think so. There is a visible need to develop sustainable tourism on the island and I think spending money in the local restaurants and shops helps local people. Tours also give visible value to the unspoiled environment, history and traditions.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

It was challenging and wonderful. Sicily is a fascinating place.
