1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Walking through the central highlands, with tea plantations, terraces, forests, temples, wildlife/2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
The walking is hard in that it’s planned for every day (the tour operator should allow at least one, maybe two, rest days), and regularly involves distances of 10-12 miles (a couple of days are 15 miles), and considerable ascents and descents. The walking becomes rather repetitive after a while. Also, because of distances we had to travel in the bus to and from the walk start and finish, the guide was always in a bit of a hurry to finish walking by 3.30/4,00. I wanted more time for a longer mid-morning break, and for enjoying the scenery rather than rushing through it.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Yes, in that guide and support staff were local, we often ate in village cafes, with home cooking, and as far as I know we stayed in locally owned hotels.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Enjoyable, with an excellent guide and support team. I feel that the Pekoe Trail with 22 stages - we did 11 stages - maybe needs some ‘tweaking’ to provide more variety of scenery/activity.Michael Wilderspin review 11 Jan 2024

Generally very good; one major gripe was that for the train journey to Ella, seats had not been reserved and half the group could not get on the train at all. I have brought this to the attention of the host company. This holiday is organized in a way to have both a fairly wide overview of Sri Lanka main landmarks and cultures and doing some good trekking. It fits very well for those who hadn't the chance to visit Sri Lanka before. If you did already visit the country you might prefer to focus on a more specific tailored trip.3.
