How to join Responsible Travel and marketing your tours

Responsible Travel is the leading marketing platform for tour operators committed to responsible tourism. All our members need to provide evidence of responsible tourism and provide visitors with a real connection with the people, the landscape, the culture and the environment.

We believe most forms of tourism can become more responsible, however there are some things that we DO NOT promote. Please note we are no longer taking on new accommodation.
Three reasons to join Responsible Travel
  1. We'll generate high quality booking enquiries for you - the average conversion rate across the site is 15%.

  2. Be part of a network of businesses striving to improve tourism and be recognised by consumers and the media as leaders in responsible tourism.

  3. Use the Responsible Travel member's logo in your marketing.
How do we work?

Tour operators next step to membership
1) Contact suzanne@responsibletravel.com who will send you further details including an application form. Do include a few lines about why you feel you'll meet our responsible travel criteria.
Please note due the number of locally based operators we already promote in the following areas we are not taking applications for membership from any more local tour operators operating in the following areas unless the product is really different and excites us: Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Bhutan, India, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda, Southern Africa, Egypt, Montenegro, cycling and walking operators in Catalonia, kayaking and cycling in Croatia, Peru, walking in Cyprus. We are also no longer taking applications from volunteering organisations. This is to help us ensure we are a value for money marketing service to the operators we currently support.

2) Return your completed application form, including your Responsible Travel policy which will need approval.

3) We then work with you to decide which of your tours to promote on Responsible Travel. You'll then be able to build your own pages where you'll need to write a trip specific 'making a difference' paragraph for every page, which details how the holiday minimises the negative impacts and maximises the benefits on the local community and environment.

4) Your pages go live, you are allocated an Account Manager, and you start to receive enquiries - Welcome to Responsible Travel!

Unfortunately due to the large number of e-mails from non responsible tour operators we can no longer guarantee a response for those who do not qualify. Please note that we only promote bona fide businesses and do not consider companies with Google ads on their own website.

All membership fees and commissions are subject to VAT where applicable.
