Costa Rica family adventure holiday

Description of Costa Rica family adventure holiday
Adventure and exploration are on the itinerary of this nine day Costa Rica family holiday, suitable for children aged five and up. Costa Rica is one of the most biologically diverse countries in the world, with lush landscapes and well managed national parks, preserving cloud forest, rainforest, volcanoes and gorgeous beaches, the perfect place to inspire young naturalists. See hummingbirds flitting through the trees and go on a fun crocodile safari, admire the Arenal volcano from the cool comfort of your hotel pool and step onto a platform for a bird’s eye view into the Poas volcano’s crater.
There’s a great mix of active fun and relaxing time on this holiday. White water raft on a rainforest river, hike through deep jungle and climb up to volcanic craters. After that, kick back in thermal springs and swimming pools, before ending your holiday in Manuel Antonio National Park, where warm seas are perfect for swimming and idyllic white beaches are backed by forest.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Thanks to our great guide Pedro, all our visits - and nature walks in particular-where memorable. As a family, the most exciting activity was the whitewater rafting.
2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Quick dry clothing and swimwear is essential as drying facilities are not available and repacking wet gear every other day is not great.
3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Taking our custom to locally owned businesses and walks in conservation areas are hopefully good ways to benefit local people. The family cooking session in particular was a nice touch.
4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Very good stay made incredible by our very friendly, very knowledgeable and hugely helpful tour leader Pedro F.
Responsible Travel
Planet
This trip takes you to many protected natural habitats. Monteverde for example was founded as an agricultural community in 1951 by a group of North American Quakers; they cleared virgin forest to create verdant pastures ideal for dairy farming. These environmentally aware settlers were conscious of the danger that unrestricted settling and farming could cause to this precious habitat. Consequently they established a small privately-owned wildlife sanctuary, which has since grown to become the internationally-renowned Monteverde Cloudforest Biological Preserve. You will also visit a coffee plantation where growers belong to fair trade co-operatives.Partnerships: As a company we support The Travel Foundation, a UK charity that has been established to promote responsible travel practises throughout the whole of the travel industry. We also work with a number of charity partners who work in the destinations that we visit; including Friends of Conservation and Born Free Foundation. We partner with many small grassroots projects throughout the destinations that we visit - they all share our responsible vision.
For every person who travels with us to Costa Rica, a contribution is made to the Fundacion Neotropica, which protects the rainforest and educates people about conservation.
