Accessibility

Overview:
We believe that travel is for everyone. This is a really core principle for us and we passionately believe that where there’s a will there’s a way. We take all ages and all levels of fitness and we do everything possible to ensure that our tours are accessible for everyone, irrespective of physical ability or cognitive conditions. In our experience, there is almost always a way of making a tour suitable for everyone!
Limited mobility:
Everything that we do is tailor made, so if we have guests with limited mobility, for example, we will tailor the programme to take this into account, and will suggest hotels which will suit. Just let us know what your requirements are and we can talk you through the options.
Wheelchair:
In most of our destinations, it is not possible to arrange a special vehicle adapted for wheelchairs, but we are normally able to arrange a larger vehicle which will have ample storage for a wheelchair. Some hotels have wheelchair access; these may be few and far between but we can suggest where these might be possible. Where there is no wheelchair access, but not too many steps, hotel staff are often happy to help with lifting the wheelchair. We will discuss each individual scenario with you to ensure that hotels will be suitable.
Blind/ limited vision:
All of our customers will be travelling as part of a family group therefore we would expect that one of the family would be able to provide necessary assistance to a traveller with limited vision. Information in braille is almost never available but local support can be provided, for example ensuring that porters are available to carry luggage in airports / train stations / hotels so that the travel partner is free to assist the person with limited vision. If we are including activities booked with external providers we will discuss your requirements and check with our provider that the activity will be safe and possible.
Deaf/limited hearing:
As stated above, all of our customers will be travelling as part of a family group therefore we would expect that one of the family would be able to provide necessary assistance to a traveller with limited hearing.
Cognitive conditions:
We have experience in providing appropriate spaces for all travellers, whether this means hotels with access to outdoor space, ground floor rooms, quiet rooms and so on. As all of our customers will be travelling as part of a family group therefore we would expect that one of the family would be also be on hand to provide necessary one on one assistance to a traveller with cognitive conditions as required.
Free from food:
If guests let us know about serious dietary issues (or allergies) we will we'll pass the information on to their airline (if we have booked the flights) and our flight suppliers, and ask that it is noted on their booking. Additionally, we will arrange translations into the relevant local language(s) to explain these, and will brief guides to ensure that appropriate food is requested.

Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.

Planet

We try to keep motorised travel to a minimum where possible. We encourage our clients to hike, kayak or rent bicycles to get around during their free time instead of driving everywhere.

We focus on booking hotels in central Ljubljana so that travellers can walk around the city instead of being further out and needing a car.

Where possible, we prioritise stay options at locally run guesthouses and tourist farms that emphasize local produce - such as seasonal fruit, vegetables, dairy, and honey. A favourite example is a small complex of family-run cottages in the Logar Valley.

In our pre-trip information, we share practical eco-tips, such as reusing hotel towels and bringing refillable water bottles to avoid single-use plastics. Tap water across Slovenia is exceptionally clean and safe to drink.

We promote responsible swimming around the coastline and in lakes and rivers.

For water activities like kayaking and rafting, local municipal river fees or permits may apply. We support local authorities by helping our travellers understand how these fees contribute directly to water management and environmental conservation efforts.

We work with hotels that help preserve the local cultural heritage, whether that be in a cobbled town centre, or nestled along a rural track in the forest.

We ask all our guests to follow local outdoor guidelines: stick to marked trails, do not feed wildlife, leave no trace behind, refrain from lighting fires in forest areas, and keep both yourselves and the natural environment safe while exploring.

People

Lunches and dinners are typically not included, which encourages travellers to get out and sample the nearby restaurants, and we make recommendations for good independent places to help families discover locally owned eateries.

Where possible, we make recommendations for places slightly away from the main 'big tick' places as this helps to spread tourist income more evenly, creating better opportunities for smaller businesses. We also give client recommendations for local things to do in their free time, e.g. apitourism (beekeeping), cafes we know along a cycle route or visits to lesser-known attractions.

As much as possible, we work with locally owned hotels and lodges, promoting relationships with hoteliers who offer refillable toiletries rather than single-use sachets or minis. We recommend that our clients eat in independent establishments and visit independently owned shops and markets and are constantly adding to our list of recommendations which is sent to travellers before they go.

Our arrangements are all made with a Slovenian-owned operator who employ from within the country, so all our tours in Slovenia are run in conjunction with local partners that have been chosen partly because they provide a fantastic service but also because they share our environmental and social goals.

All guided activities are booked with local outfitters who employ local guides from the same regional area, who will be pleased to answer questions and give an excellent insight into the way of life in the region. This allows more people within the country to benefit from tourism. Examples include kayaking guides at Lake Bohinj, local boat operators on Lake Bled, canyoning or ziplining guides in the Soca Valley.

We understand when and where tipping is culturally appropriate and provide detailed guidelines for our travellers as to suitable amounts.

This trip is LGBTQ+ friendly, and we welcome families of all types on our trips.
