CARBON REDUCTION

This itinerary has been designed to ensure a positive impact on the planet. The route flows naturally from Glasgow to Edinburgh without the need for internal flights, reducing overall emissions. Journeys are made by private vehicle and ferries, allowing more of the landscape to be experienced while travelling responsibly.
Once at each destination, sightseeing, guided tours, and activities are accessible on foot, minimizing transportation emissions and carbon footprint.

All hotels on the trip combine comfort with strong commitments to sustainability. The Glasgow hotel uses aerated shower heads and recycled duvet fillings to reduce energy use and embodied carbon and monitors energy through its Green Engage system. In Inverness, the hotel operates solar panels and a river-water system for heating and hot water, cutting approximately 250 tonnes of CO2 annually. The hotels in Pitlochry and Edinburgh work toward carbon neutrality through energy management and sustainable practices.


ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE

On this trip, we aim to connect travelers with Scotland in a way that is both immersive and responsible. Guests will visit local family estates and farms, learning about deer feeding, Highland cows, and generations of sheepdog training. They’ll witness traditional falconry shows and explore the countryside while respecting local wildlife and habitats. In Edinburgh’s outskirts, a foraging experience with a chef highlights sustainable harvesting of mushrooms and seasonal plants.

All accommodations prioritize eco-friendly practices, including energy-efficient systems, water conservation, and minimizing single-use plastics. Guests are encouraged to reuse towels, reduce energy use, and carry refillable water bottles.
Two hotels have “Plant a Tree” policies, either for each meeting or conference held or whenever a guest opts out of daily room servicing. The Inverness hotel actively supports biodiversity, planting native species and installing bee and insect boxes, earning a Climate Change Action Award for its efforts. In Pitlochry, the hotel works toward zero landfill, while the Edinburgh property is progressing toward a net zero waste policy. Its green roofs absorb rainfall to manage stormwater, provide natural insulation, and create habitats that support local biodiversity, including birds, insects, and pollinators.

LOCAL ECONOMY

Throughout the trip, we collaborate with local businesses and partners to support the regional economy. We prioritize hiring local tour leaders and guides, using regional transportation services, and dining at locally-owned restaurants, ensuring that spending directly benefits the community. The itinerary also includes visits to local artisans, farms, and estates, showcasing traditional production methods and contributing to the livelihoods of small, family-run enterprises.

Whenever possible, we stay in small-scale boutique hotels rather than large commercial properties, helping sustain heritage accommodations and local employment. In Edinburgh, the hotel participates in a “Soap Donations Program,” collecting and redistributing unused soaps to communities in need—reducing waste while supporting local initiatives.
