CARBON REDUCTION

Efforts to reduce flying
This tour begins and ends in Zakynthos, removing the need for internal flights within Greece. All transport between destinations is completed by shared gulet sailboat, which significantly reduces individual carbon emissions compared with air or multi-vehicle travel.

Shared local transport
Guests travel together on a traditional motorised gulet, shared by up to 25 travellers. This collective mode of transport maximises efficiency and reduces per-person emissions throughout the tour.

Human-powered transport
Optional kayak and stand-up paddle board hire are available during the tour. These human-powered, zero-emission activities allow guests to explore coastal areas responsibly while reducing reliance on motorised transport.

Locally sourced and seasonal food
Meals make use of fresh local ingredients, and guests are encouraged to dine at small, family-run tavernas and bakeries in island villages such as Agia Efimia and Fiskardo. This supports local producers and reduces the environmental impact of imported food.

ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE

Contribution to nature and biodiversity
The tour visits some of Greece’s most beautiful natural areas, including Shipwreck Beach, Harami Beach, etc. Visiting these protected environments responsibly helps raise awareness of marine protection.
Nature-based experiences
Swimming, snorkelling, and optional paddle sports give travellers the chance to enjoy the islands’ marine life and landscapes in a low-impact way. Guests are reminded to respect local wildlife and to avoid removing shells, coral, or other natural materials.

LOCAL ECONOMY

Locally owned operations
Accommodation is provided on locally operated gulet boats, ensuring that income stays within the Greek islands. Dining and shore experiences focus on independent tavernas and small businesses, directly supporting the local economy.

Supporting local livelihoods
The itinerary includes visits to several villages and towns, such as:
• Agia Efimia (Kefalonia): Explore the village, visit local shops and a traditional wood-fired bakery.
• Vathi (Ithaca): Time to explore local markets and purchase locally made produce and souvenirs.
• Fiskardo (Kefalonia): Explore the town on foot or by bicycle; see fishermen at work and enjoy local tavernas.
• Poros (Kefalonia): Visit beaches and experience the village’s bars and tavernas, supporting the local economy indirectly.
These stops provide opportunities to support small businesses, local crafts, bakeries, and eateries.

These visits help sustain small-scale enterprises and create meaningful connections between travellers and host communities.

EMPLOYMENT, INCLUSIVITY AND DIVERSITY

Local employment
Each gulet is operated by a qualified Greek captain and local crew members, providing steady employment and training opportunities within island communities.

Accessibility and inclusivity
This trip is not suitable for people with limited mobility. The boats’ gangways may not fit all wheelchairs, and cabin bathrooms and staircases are generally unsuitable. Passengers with special mobility needs are expected to travel with an escort if they participate.
