Description of Greece sailing holiday for families
Enjoy a sailing holiday around the Ionian islands of Greece, taking in beaches, crowd-free archaeological sites, hiking trails and a host of picturesque bays where you can moor up to swim and snorkel. Plus, there are myriad opportunities to indulge in Greek cuisine in harbourside seafood restaurants and tavernas.
A fantastic trip for families and groups of friends, this sailing adventure makes for a relaxed, culturally authentic introduction to some of the most attractive of the Greek islands.
This is the kind of island-hopping experience you can only get with a sailing yacht, and a responsible tour operator dedicated to offering an authentic look at the Ionian islands.
Your friendly, professional skipper will handle all the sailing, but if you’d like to pitch in and learn a few techniques, you’ll be more than welcome to do so. Everything you need is provided, from fresh linen and towels to snorkelling equipment. Just pack your deck shoes, your (reef-friendly) suncream, and your Greek phrasebook to translate menus in the local restaurants.
The yacht carries up to eight passengers, sailing between Kastos, Atokos, Ithaca and Kefalonia. You might moor up to sunbathe on a deserted beach, to soak up the atmosphere at a lively harbour, for a sunset walk, or to explore ancient ruins well off the beaten archaeological track. Depending on your dates, you can also spend time at a local festival for a fantastic introduction to island culture.

Where to start?! I was expecting the beautiful beaches and charming villages, however stopping the boat in the middle of the ocean and swimming in 120m deep dark sapphire water was truly special. We have been sailing and exploring the marine system of the Ionian Sea since 2009 and have therefore developed knowledge and experience of both the beauty and also the threats. This way we have seen the problems that human activities create to the sea. We have tried and done our best to minimise our impact and reduce our energy demands by sailing as much as possible, using environmental friendly materials, minimise use of single use plastic, minimise waste and use renewable ways to generate electricity.- We eat local . Almost everything comes from local producers and farms. We use and strongly suggest season products.
- We sail as much as possible and plan trip always to be wind favoured.
- We mainly use solar power from our P/V system.
- We encourage reasonable fresh water use for showers and washing. All the loads on board are designed efficintly for low power consumption ( eg. LED bulbs).
- We have a special drinkable water tank (BISPHENOL A FREE / PHTHALATE - FREE ) , carbon filter to avoid using plastic bottles onboard for drinking (big issue on yachting) .
In general sailing life itself consists in low energy consumption way of living . That's the spirit that we want to commune with our guests.
People
We recommend local and family-run restaurants which we have been visiting for a long time. Local guides are employed for excursions when needed, to visit an archaeological site or for a guided hike or for other aquatic activities or even wine tasting.Popular similar holidays
