We only work with licensed ground operators who work with local guides, natural reserves and archaeological sites in the highlands and Amazon regions of Bolivia.

Admission fees vary between natural reserves and contribute towards the management and maintenance of the sites. Where applicable, these fees can also support conservation activities, infrastructure and local employment. If a trip includes visits to pre-colonial archaeological sites or museums, entrance fees provide income to the sites and institutions visited.

Our community-based experiences are generally operated by or in partnership with local communities and local operators. We encourage our customers to follow the guidelines in our Traveller Code of Conduct, which includes recommendations on responsible waste management and supporting locally owned businesses and services where possible.

Our ground operators are aware of our expectations regarding responsible water use and waste management. We encourage clients to provide feedback during or after their trip if they have concerns about the responsible practices of any of our ground operators or suppliers.

We aim to reduce our use of printed marketing and communication materials by encouraging customers to use the online versions of our brochures and ensuring that the experiences we offer are supported by comprehensive online information

When you travel with us, your trip can support local communities through the locally based guides, operators and community-based experiences included in our itineraries.

Bolivia has a rich cultural heritage, with clothing, music, religious traditions and languages reflecting the country's diverse history and the heritage of Indigenous communities whose ancestors pre-date the Spanish conquest. The high-altitude capital, La Paz, is an extraordinary city of bustle and colour and provides a fascinating gateway to the country, with traditional markets, street trading and distinctive forms of dress contributing to its character.

We introduce you to local communities and cultural experiences, giving you opportunities to learn more about the area's history, contemporary life and traditions. We ask you to respect the archaeological sites, natural reserves and communities you visit by avoiding unnecessary water use, taking your litter with you and avoiding activities that could damage the environment.

Approximately 80% of our experiences include visits to local communities or community-based projects. These experiences are designed to provide opportunities to learn about local ways of life, livelihoods and traditions and, where appropriate, to meet local people involved in the projects.

Our activity-based experiences are tailored to individual interests, and we suggest activities that provide opportunities to visit communities and rural areas, learn about local livelihoods and meet local people. We have extensive local contacts and knowledge in Bolivia and work directly with locally based operators.
