From Mendoza, you’ll venture south to Bariloche, where you’ll experience a gourmet food excursion, kayak across the dazzling lakes, and enjoy a romantic sunset sailing trip. Finally, you’ll head to the vast farmlands of the Pampas, where you can relax at Estancia La Eloisa, an authentic estancia (cattle ranch). Itinerary

Day 1:Arrive in Buenos Aires - Upon arrival at Ministro Pistarini International Airport (also known as Ezeiza International Airport), you will be met by a representative and transferred to the renowned Legado Mítico Hotel, where you’ll stay for the next three nights. You’ll be welcomed at the hotel with a table of local cheese, cold cuts and sparkling wine to toast the start of your honeymoon in Argentina. The Legado Mítico is a boutique hotel featuring spacious rooms with décor inspired by the Argentinean culture and history. This stylish hotel is located in the trendy Palermo Soho neighbourhood (barrio) of Buenos Aires, where you’ll find eclectic restaurants, chic cocktail bars, quirky shops, art galleries and markets. This evening, dress up for dinner and you’ll find that Palermo Soho offers an abundance of dining options from parrillas (steak houses) to fine-dining restaurants, whilst listening to the sounds of the tango in the background.
Day 2:Explore Buenos Aires - After breakfast, your English-speaking guide will meet you at your hotel and you’ll embark on a private tour of Buenos Aires. With its classical architecture, exclusive boutiques, pavement cafes and fine restaurants, Buenos Aires is an incredible city that beats to a passionate tango rhythm. On your tour, you’ll walk along the widest avenue in the world, Avenida 9 de Julio, which runs through the heart of the city, and you’ll see the major attractions, including the impressive Teatro Colon Opera House, the famous pink government house, Casa Rosada and the Pirámide de Mayo, a white obelisk which was built to mark the first anniversary of independence from Spain. You’ll also visit the districts of La Boca and San Telmo, where the city was born and the trendy Puerto Madero docklands area, where you’ll find fantastic cafes and restaurants. Next, you’ll head to the Recoleta neighbourhood to visit the Cementerio de la Recoleta and the grave of Argentina’s most famous first lady, Eva Perón, before ending your tour back at your hotel in Palermo. Your guide will be happy to adapt the tour depending on your personal interests, so let them know if you're interested in the food, history, architecture or culture of the city. This evening, you’ll head to a local restaurant in Palermo to enjoy the "Casa Coupage experience," where you’ll be served a seven-course menu with a pairing of seven wines from different wine regions of Argentina.
Day 3:Explore Buenos Aires - Today, you’ll have a free day to explore the Argentinean capital at your leisure. You may wish to visit Cementerio de la Chacarita, a 19th century cemetery sprawled across the Buenos Aires suburbs where you can see statues and mausoleums of Argentina’s most revered tango icons, or you can discover the spectacular El Ateneo Grand Splendid, a former theatre which has been turned into a grand bookstore, visit a tango hall to witness the sensual, energetic dance of Argentine culture, or explore the city’s museums and art galleries, including El Caminito, a historical, artist-lined alleyway and colourful street museum, and Museo de Arte Latinoamericano de Buenos Aires (also known as Malba), Argentina’s leading contemporary art museum, where you’ll see works by leading Latino modern artists, including Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera and lesser-known locals.
Day 4:Transfer to Mendoza - After breakfast, you’ll be picked up by your private driver and transferred to Jorge Newbery airport, where you’ll take a two-hour domestic flight to Mendoza in Argentina’s Cuyo region. On arrival at Mendoza, you’ll be met by a driver and transferred to your hotel, Posada Verde Oliva, where you’ll stay for the next three nights. Posada Verde Oliva is a lovely property on the edge of Mendoza’s wine region. It is located in an olive grove in Coquimbito, just 16 kilometres from the city of Mendoza. Built in the 19th century, this stylish posada has eight spacious rooms with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the beautiful garden. The hotel is surrounded by vineyards and olive trees and during your stay you can enjoy home-grown wines and olive oil. Once you’ve checked into your room, you can spend the afternoon relaxing in the garden or you can take a dip in the swimming pool.
Day 5:Explore Mendoza’s Uco Valley - Mendoza is located in the heart of Argentina's wine country and today you’ll have an opportunity to visit the vineyards of the Uco Valley with a private English-speaking guide. Situated at the foot of the Andes, the Uco Valley is bordered by the Cordón de Plata, a mountainous belt that acts as a spectacular backdrop for the endless rows of vines, giving the vineyards a picturesque setting, defined by the snow-capped peak of the Tupungato Volcano. You’ll spend the day learning about the complete vinification process from grape-growing to bottling, and you’ll have a chance to sample wines from three different vineyards. You’ll also learn about the fascinating history of this region, including the ingenious irrigation system developed by the Hupares Indians over 500 years ago, which used water from the snow-capped Andes to transform this once desert region into a lush oasis.
Day 6:Explore Mendoza - Today you’ll have a free day to explore Mendoza at your leisure. If you’re feeling active, you may wish to cycle through the vineyards, kayak on the lakes, or go horse riding or hiking in the mountains. You can also take a day trip to Mount Aconcagua, the highest peak in the Americas at 6,954 metres high, and trek along the forested trails. Alternatively, you can dine at one of Mendoza’s excellent restaurants and enjoy a romantic lunch paired with some of Argentina’s world-famous wines.
Day 7:Transfer to Bariloche - This morning you’ll be picked up at your hotel by your private driver and transferred back to the airport, where you’ll take a one-hour-40-minute flight to San Carlos de Bariloche (commonly called Bariloche) in Argentina’s Patagonia region. On arrival at Bariloche, you’ll be met by your driver and driven to the Aldebarán Hotel and Spa, where you’ll stay for the next three nights. Aldebarán Hotel and Spa is set on the banks of Lago Nahuel Huapi on the San Pedro Peninsula, in the heart of Argentina’s breathtakingly beautiful Lake District. This luxurious, boutique hotel has 10 exclusive suites offering spectacular views of the mountains and lakes from the balconies or the deck. This afternoon, you can relax in your room and admire the views, take a walk along the shores of the lake, or visit the hotel’s spa which features a jacuzzi, a Finnish shower, a sauna, an "in-out" heated pool and a massage room. This evening, you can enjoy a meal at the hotel’s restaurant, Sirius, which offers fantastic regional food and a choice of excellent Argentine wines.
Day 8:Explore Bariloche - After breakfast, you’ll be picked up by your private guide and transferred to Bahía López for a full day Andes Gourmet Excursion. The excursion will begin with a leisurely 30-minute walk into the forest, enjoying views of the mountains and lakes, before arriving at the natural balconies at the Brazo Tristeza of Nahuel Huapi Lake. After a short ascent, you’ll arrive at the Cerro Tronador to take in the beauty of its seven glaciers. You’ll have some time to explore this spectacular wonder, before enjoying a romantic gourmet lunch prepared by your own private chef. After lunch, you’ll have an opportunity to kayak (in Double Adventure Kayaks) on the serene Nahuel Huapi Lake to discover the impressive landscapes from the water.
Day 9:Explore Bariloche - Today, you’ll have a free day to explore Bariloche. You may wish to go hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding or you can venture out on to the lake to enjoy kayaking, rafting, fishing or private sailing trips. This evening, you’ll be taken to a location to see one of the most romantic sunsets in the world. Your guide will pick you up at your hotel and transfer you to the port, where you’ll board a boat and sail between the islands as the sun begins to set. Your captain will stop the engine in the calm waters, and then you can enjoy a glass of wine as you soak up the peaceful atmosphere and the spectacular scenery. As the sun dips below the horizon and the dark sky illuminates with stars, you can make a toast to this magical moment with your loved one.
Day 10:Transfer to the Pampas - After breakfast, you’ll check out of the Aldebarán Hotel and be picked up by your private driver and transferred to the airport for a domestic flight back to Buenos Aires. On arrival in Buenos Aires, you’ll be met by your private driver and transferred to the Pampas. The Pampas (from the Quechua “pampa” meaning "plain") are a huge expanse of fertile farmlands, extending over Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil. You’ll be visiting the iconic estancias (cattle ranches) of the Argentine Pampas region on the outskirts of Buenos Aires. You’ll stay at Estancia La Eloisa, located near General Las Heras village, 90 kilometres from Buenos Aires. You’ll stay at Estancia La Eloisa for two nights on a full-board basis, and you can spend your time here at your leisure, with all activities included.
Day 11:Explore the Pampas - Today, you’re free to explore the Pampas and enjoy the activities offered at Estancia La Eloisa. The estancia is set on 400 acres, with 10 hectares of lush parkland spread around the rooms. You may wish to take a stroll or cycle ride through the leafy trees of the parkland, go horseback riding, or enjoy a romantic carriage ride. You can also take a dip in the swimming pool, enjoy a round of golf on the 9-hole course, or play a range of other sports including tennis, football, volleyball and croquet. There’s also a games room with a pool table, snooker, toad, put-gol and board games.
Day 12:Explore the Pampas - Today, you’ll have another full day to explore the beautiful estancia and the surrounding area. You can venture out into the countryside to enjoy a trek or birdwatching, or you can go horse riding through the farmlands. The estancia has a working dairy farm where you can learn about daily life here and if you want, you can even get involved with the farming activities. There are also stables and a polo school and the club is registered with the Argentina Polo Association so there’s an option to join a game of polo on the weekend (or weekdays on request).
Day 13:Depart from Buenos Aires - Sadly, your Argentinean honeymoon has come to an end. After a final breakfast at Estancia La Eloisa, you’ll be picked up by your private driver and transferred to the international airport in Buenos Aires for your return flight home. If you’d like to continue your adventure, we recommend hopping into neighbouring Chile, or venturing to the end of the world in Ushuaia, the southernmost city on earth, where you can board a cruise ship bound for Antarctica.

Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.

Planet

As with all of our luxury holidays, this itinerary has been crafted to ensure that it positively effects the local communities and environments visited.

This itinerary includes trips to some of Argentina's protected areas of natural beauty, including the Pampas, Mendoza and the Lake District. By visiting these sites (all entrance fees are included in your luxury tour), you are supporting the preservation and conservation of these areas, and indicating to authorities that tourists are interested in protecting Argentina's incredible natural environments.

Whilst exploring Argentina's areas of natural beauty, please ensure that you don’t leave any litter – everything you carry in, you must carry out. Aside from the environmental damage, litter can be harmful to the wildlife.

We also make a special effort to recommend accommodation providers which have responsible and sustainable initiatives. For example, Verde Oliva Posada is set in an olive farm which features vineyards and olive trees, so guests can enjoy homemade wine and olive oil. Wine and olive tasting are organised upon request, and guests can also engage in harvesting activities.

People

All the local guides referred to in this itinerary are paid a fair wage. We believe that using local guides is important, as it helps generate local incomes and creates jobs, plus it offers a more authentic travel experience.

We recommend independent local hotels, lodges, guesthouses and campsites, rather than international chain hotels, which helps support local communities and allows you to experience true Argentine hospitality. For example, Legado Metico is committed to Child Protection Policies, as a member of several foundations and organisations, spreading knowledge about children’s rights, especially the right of every child to have a family.

In addition, this Argentina family holiday includes a stay in an authentic estancia (cattle ranch) with a local gaucho farming family in the Pampas. This homestay opportunity provides you and your partner with the chance to learn about daily life at a working farm and engage in cultural exchange, as well as enjoy activities on the farm and in the local area.

We believe getting to know the destination and the people who live there means that you will have a more authentic and meaningful travel experience.
