It’s big, it’s bold, it’s Argentina – and your trip takes in two brilliant areas – the Mendoza wine region, mid-way up the Andes, and Patagonia, at their base. Argentina might be big, but the best parts of your trip might be the littlest details – the small batch wineries, and the tiny Andean wildflowers – that your great local guide will help you seek.
Mendoza’s climate is great for growing Malbec grapes, but it’s also lovely holiday weather – sit out under the clear skies, having a barbecue, or go browsing the bodegas. You’ll be based in Chacras de Coria – a town that’s a great springboard to the Ruta de Vino wineries.
It’s not all sophisticated sipping. Just outside Mendoza is the highest mountain in the Andes: Aconcagua is nearly 7000m tall. A drive out along the Mendoza River takes you up into the mountain range where you can picnic on the side of Aconcagua – don’t worry, you’re not going to the summit, but you’ll get some amazing views from its southern face, with input from an expert local guide who can help you keep your eyes peeled for Magellanic woodpeckers, caracaras and condors.
Once you get to Patagonia, marvel at one of the world’s last few wild places – this is wilderness on an epic scale. There are vast plateaus and soaring, snow-capped peaks, and glaciers. On this trip you get to don crampons and walk on one of the world’s only advancing glaciers, the serene blue giant that is Perito Moreno glacier – listen out for the rumble of distant ice as another chunk crashes into the water below.
For the trekking portion of your Patagonia expedition, you’ll base yourselves in El Chalten, a popular town for hikers, and from here there are day hikes into the peaks, with maybe a couple of soaring condors for company.
There’s an opportunity to extend this trip by adding a trip to Iguazu Falls at the start when you arrive in Buenos Aires, or adding Ushuaia at the end, travelling on from El Calafate.

A portion of the money from this tour goes to support the local community and local programming.

Friends & Neighbors:We visit small and locally owned restaurants that use farm to table practices whenever possible. As well, the wineries we visit are small batch and mostly family owned, focusing on biodiverse and sustainable winemaking practices.
We partner with independent local guides and family owned lodges that conserve water and electricity, encourage sustainable practices and respect and teach about the local environment and wildlife.
There are limited tourism jobs that pay fairly in Patagonia, so we provide our local partners with competitive pay and scheduled hours that are reliable and livable.
Charity:
We always give back in the areas we visit, including working with local charities that support communities in need and protect the local ecosystems. We also make a donation to carbon offset each guest's trip. This money goes to support reforestation projects and other initiatives that reduce greenhouse gases.
A portion of our proceeds is donated to a local charity in Argentina. Comedor de la Chacra provides meals for children in Ushuaia.
