Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.
Planet
Transport:Public transportation is our main form of transport to move from place to place.
This helps our travellers keep carbon footprint to a minimum while seeing amazing views and mingling with the locals. Many of our activities are also based on walking or biking such as the Yulong River bike ride in Yangshuo - guaranteed eco way to travelling while providing you with light exercise.
Accommodation:
Our selection of locally run hostels and guesthouses do as much as possible for the environment. We encourage you to discover the services on offer and the local community so you can perhaps find a way to give back to them while enjoying your stay.
Wildlife:
Visit the Panda Breeding Centre where you will be able to see the pandas up close and learn about how the centre helps the panda population grow and how they release them into the wild. This centre is well known for its work and our guide will brief you on the important rules to follow while at the centre.
Top Tips:
Tap water is not drinkable in China but we suggest packing a reusable water bottle that you can use at filtered water refill points to ensure you have water on hand at all times and help minimise the trail of plastic left behind where possible. We also recommend packing as light as possible, to help keep your carbon footprint low.
People
Local tour guides:To help support local people and community and to provide further employment opportunities in the countries where we visit, our guides are bilingual locals who speak both Chinese and English. This also means that our guides have great local knowledge so they can engage you in fun stories or answer any of your questions.
Local experiences:
When in China you have to learn about the varied local cuisine! Our guides would be very happy to advise you on the food available and recommend the most authentic and local restaurant in each place so when you are enjoying a delicious meal, you will also be giving back to the local communities. Looking for some Chinese style entertainment then try out Tai Chi in a park, early in the morning Karaoke night!
You will also get a chance to learn some Mandarin so you can learn a little more about the country through the language. We offer a written language guide in China.
All of our customers’ interactions are with local suppliers, and we promote integration between travellers and local people through our “unmissable” included activities and our optional activities, and opportunities for authentic cultural immersion.
Our Adventure Leaders will be with you the whole way to make you aware of local customs and traditions, letting you know when it is appropriate to take photos and/or videos.
