Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.
Planet
Sri Lanka is one of the most exotic island countries in the world. The country has beautiful heritage sites, national parks, plains, hills and pristine beaches. Due to its plethora of travel experiences on offer, it has become a popular destination in past few years. The popularity has brought with it pollution, over-crowding during travel season time. To do our bit in reducing the impact on environment, We have emission tested vehicles for the tours. These are as per government norms. Also, our vehicles are regularly serviced so that the fuel utilisation is efficient. This reduces carbon footprint. We make sure that we do not use any of our vehicles in the National Parks. In order to visit Yala National Park and its buffer zones, we strictly use the vehicles provided by the Forest Department. We do not engage in any of the activities that would harm the animals residing at the National Parks. There is an Elephant Farm in Sri Lanka where travellers are allowed to ride the Elephant. We do not encourage our guests to go for this activity as there have been instances where local NGOs have spoken about mistreatment to these animals.
People
We believe that tourism is a great way to learn more about local culture, food and also an employment opportunity for locals. Authentic food and cooking tour in Kandy offers wonderful opportunity to our guests to meet a local family and understand more about Sri Lankan culture and food. During this tour, we take our guests to one of a local household where they sit with the family and interact with them. They learn how to cook an authentic Sri Lankan Cuisine and how to keep it that way.We have included village tours like Senadiriyagama village where you learn about local culture and see beautiful views of the countryside. Such tours are an example of community tourism where the proceeds of tour are given to local society.
The driver cum driver for the tour is a local. We select the best drivers/ guides and also offer training to make their services better. This process enables local employment and continuous improvement in service delivery.
