Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.
Planet
On this trip you will travel through Uzbekistan's incredible natural landscapes including the Kyzulkum Desert where you have the chance to learn about the natural flora and fauna of the region. On day 8 you will have an included visit to the Severcev Sheep Nursery which is home to one of the rare species of Wild Argali sheep, added to the International Union for Conservation of Nature’s (IUCN) Red List of Threatened Species in 2020. The visit here helps go into the conservation of these animals. Your trip also includes a stay in a traditional Uzbekistan Yurt camp. These operate in the traditional way of life with limited electricity reducing the environmental impact.
We have also partnered up with Water-To-Go to offer sustainable, reusable water bottles to our customers. We recognise that the ability to produce safe drinking water from sources off the beaten track, of sometimes dubious quality, offers incredible benefits to our adventure travellers and so are excited to be subsidising this product to make it more accessible to you. Having a re-usable filtration bottle avoids single use plastic,
People
This trip includes a number of different ways to ensure we are supporting the local communities especially the nomadic locals of Uzbekistan. You will be accompanied by a local guide and staying in locally, family-run accommodation including on day 7 where we spend the night at a guesthouse in Ukhum village. On day 4 in Bukhara you will have a cookery class with a local family ensuring money is going back into the community. On day 8, on the way to Samarkand lunch will be served at a local family's house. They are ethnic Tajiks; you will have a unique opportunity to hear the regional language and learn about day to day life in the village. By offering these opportunities Uzbekistani people are always welcoming and friendly and keen to learn a little about Western ways, and vice versa. This adventure helps to allow each culture to learn a little about the other which should hopefully encourage a greater understanding between the cultures.Popular similar holidays
