Guided cycling holiday in Southern Peloponnese, Greece
Description of Guided cycling holiday in Southern Peloponnese, Greece
The south Peloponnese coast is one of the loveliest parts of the Greek mainland, with golden beaches, quiet fishing communities and handsome traditional architecture to explore. On this guided cycling holiday in the southern Peloponnese, you’ll ride from Pylos, with its Venetian castle, to the town of Monemvasia, which was carved into the slope of a plateau to protect it from attack, and was for many years accessible only by boat.
You, however, will reach your destination in Monemvasia by bike. Led by a brilliant local guide, the trip is ideal for groups of six or more friends wanting to travel through this region’s wild beauty at a fairly leisurely pace – daily distances range from 40–80km, and while the section climbing into the rocky landscapes of Mani is demanding, there’s a support van alongside for anyone wanting to rest tired legs.
For the most part, however, you can expect a few enjoyable ups and downs as you trace the coastline of the southern Peloponnese, pausing in small villages to feast on fresh seafood, and staying in hotels that are usually family-owned so that you get a healthy burst of Greek culture with your exercise.
Though the Peloponnese region is hardly unknown, this trip avoids the busiest areas. You’ll be mostly on traffic-light back roads, at one point taking the local ferry over for a ride on the island of Elafonissos. Kalamata, capital of the Messenia region, is another highlight. There are few better ways to experience a country than going by bike, as it’s such an immersive form of travel. And with a Greek guide beside you, on this cycle tour you can’t fail to fall for the Peloponnese.

ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE
As tourism affects the environment in many ways such as increasing the air, litter & sewage pollution, natural habitat loss and even endanger many animal species, we, as tourism personnel and hoteliers try our best to sustain the environment as much as possible.
On this tour you will cycle through an area, becoming aware of its environmental sensitivity. Famous Sparta, the amazing beach of Elafonissos and the tremendous medieval town of Monemvassia all rely on environmental cleanliness and purity to preserve their beauty and uniqueness.
We believe that it is a matter of high importance to preserve what we have and not take advantage of it by any cost. We have adopted a sustainable tourism policy to protect the environment and the society.
People
LOCAL ECONOMYThe area is picturesque and has its own unique social characteristics. The local community needs to be supported but also wants to prove that they can survive without the mass tourism that negatively affects those characteristics.
Following our sustainable tourism policy, we cooperate with hotels owned by locals, mainly family businesses with local employees.
EMPLOYMENT, INCLUSIVITY AND DIVERSITY
We designed our cycling tour to pass through locations that are still pure, away from mass tourism, and that will benefit locals instead of causing problems. We are locals too and we recruit only locals in our business. In addition, we have a plan for the cycling development of the area . On this trip, you will visit so many different places and you will always be surrounded by locals, experiencing the Greek way of living. But the most important thing for us, is that your presence here gives us a strong negotiation card for pressing the local authorities for the development of our area, such us constructing cycling streets in our city which will also be used by the locals.or better finance and organisation of our archaeological museums and sites.
