Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.
Planet
The itineraries we create are guided by three core pillars: protecting the environment, supporting local communities and enabling our guests to travel responsibly. To ensure this, we partner with a boutique team on the ground that has championed responsible tourism since 2011 and shares our values. From the activities we include to the transport we recommend, our suggestions aim to reduce the carbon footprint and protect the ecosystems visited.
CARBON REDUCTION
The route has been designed to keep domestic flights to a minimum and maximise your time on the ground. We encourage road travel over air travel wherever possible and favour shared vehicles over longer journeys to reduce per-passenger emissions.
Excursions are operated in a small groups to cut fuel use, limit noise pollution and avoid overcrowding. Wherever possible, we encourage low-impact activities, exploring on foot or by non-motorized means.
ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE
We work closely with our partners in Argentina and Chile who share our environmental values and are transparent in their sustainability commitments. Together, we have eliminated single-use plastics encouraging guests to bring a reusable bottle and ensuring purified water is available, follow a strict leave-no waste policy in natural areas and support Fundación Reforestemos, planting a tree for every trip booked since March 2023.
By travelling this way, you are not only experiencing the beauty of Chile and Argentina's highlights but you are helping to ensure it remains that way.
People
LOCAL ECONOMYBoth activities and accommodations should include food that is obtained locally, encouraging local producers to supply their operations.
Throughout their stay, guests are encouraged to dine out locally and explore the town supporting small business and offering guests a more authentic and enriching stay.
All the experiences are also carefully curated to provide authentic engagement. For example, while exploring El Calafate, this itinerary goes beyond natural landscapes to include a half day tour where guests explore the history of the early explorers and their encounters with the native Tehueleche people.
EMPLOYMENT, INCLUSIVITY AND DIVERSITY
People are at the heart of everything we do. The most practical aim is to design itineraries which enable guests to spend money where it stays in Chile and Argentina. Our local partners solely work with locally owned suppliers who are committed to economic responsibility.
We work with local certified guides and drivers, and hotels which similarly employ the local community without any type of discrimination.
