Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.

Planet

CARBON REDUCTION

Our ecotours leave a small impression on the environment because of the accommodations, restaurants, small group size of 20, and the activities.

Our yacht burns ultra-low sulfur diesel, comparable to what is sold by cars, instead of "heavy fuel" that most large ships use.

We buy our meal ingredients from local farmers and fishermen and also offer vegetarian and vegan options.

To reduce carbon emissions, we’ve also curated the itinerary to incorporate human-powered transport as an essential and enjoyable way to explore the area during each day of this tour like hiking and kayaking.

ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE

We provide BPA-free refillable water bottles for guests to use and have filtered water available for refills.

We encourage guests to conserve water in their bathrooms and to reuse towels as much as possible to cut back on washing machine loads.

We limit single plastic use onboard and use environmentally friendly cleaners.

Our yacht brings guests to wilderness areas that larger vessels cannot access. As such, we employ the ‘leave no trace’ practice, ensuring that we leave trails and other wilderness areas the way we found them for minimal environmental impact. We buy ingredients for meals from local farmers and fishermen, using farm-to-table practices whenever possible to support local communities and reduce shipping emissions.

We hire local Alaskan guides who help guests view the wildlife responsibly (i.e., keeping minimum distances, not using camera flashes, and not disturbing the animals).

People

LOCAL ECONOMY

Our company is deeply committed to contributing to local economies and supporting small businesses as a vital part of our sustainability practices. During this tour, we visit the family-owned and operated Taku Glacier Lodge, where guests will discover more about local Alaskan history while enjoying locally sourced cuisine.

Additionally, we also collaborate with local farmers and fishermen, embracing farm-to-table practices whenever possible to ensure our meals support the local economy.

EMPLOYMENT, INCLUSIVITY AND DIVERSITY

Our team is proud of our commitment to inclusivity, diversity, and meaningful community partnerships. We work with local partners who are like family to us. Our partners are stewards of the land and cultural guardians who are part of the local fabric of each location we visit, helping guests connect authentically to the local area and communities.

We employ local, Alaskan guides to join us on our excursions wose deep knowledge and connection to the region enrich guests' experiences throughout this adventure. Our partnerships reflect our commitment to supporting the people and cultures that make Alaska unique.
