CARBON REDUCTIONThis bird watching tour focuses on identifying bird species that are found in Ethiopia including those endemic ones such as the Ankober Serin, Abyssinian Cat Bird, Wattled Ibis, Thick Billed Raven which is sometimes called semi-endemic as it is found in Eritrea.
On this specific tour we do not use any domestic flights at all in any of the destinations. As usual when organising such type of tours for our clients we pay special attention to pollution and especially carbon emission and try to avoid domestic flights whenever possible. We have a switch off policy wherever we go, meaning we advise our drivers to switch the engine off when we stop for photographing birds, views and other activities. This birding tour includes places like Awash National, Rift Valley Lakes, Bale Mountains etc where we have our experienced agents who work hand in hand with the local community, educating them about environmental protection and conservation. Selecting an eco-friendly mode of transportation to every destination is our priority, we have a policy which is against reckless driving through wildlife habitats. and getting involved in conservation programs. As a local tour operators we shoulder a big responsibility to bring sustainable tourism development by applying responsible tourism policies. We always exert our unreserved effort to make sure that our tourism has a positive impact and development. in every destination. We always ensure that our birdwatching itineraries align with both our clients’ interests and environmental sustainability..
TRANSPORTATION
As bird watching is an activity which requires mainly walking in search of different bird species we very often do not use cars and walk from one site to the other and we also use pack animals and porters to take our equipment and in this case we also create job opportunities for the local residents since porters, animals, rangers , cooks , guides etc are waling and working with us.
People
LOCAL ECONOMYThe bird watching tour employs local bird expert tour guides, rangers, cooks when moving from one destination to the other and apart from this activity we organize social events like traditional dancing, coffee ceremonies. As we firmly support and believe in pro poor tourism we use this specific bird watching tour to help the local community in any way possible. Helping the local economy means preserving the nature in an indirect way because it is one of the mechanisms through which we can minimize human influence on nature. It goes without saying that creating more job opportunities contributes to greater sustainability in a destination.
ENVIRONMENT INCLUSIVITY AND DIVERSITY
Considering that this is a tour which goes through many remote places in the country side, the tour highly promotes pro poor tourism through which the local residents benefit with out any discrimination of gender, disability and taking sustainability in to consideration. It also gives priority to the core values of equality and fairness among the people. In addition to organizing this bird watching tour income generation to the local community always remains our concern. we pay special attention not to step out of the social norms, Supporting our local people and making them responsible is one of our core values.
