Kanana Camp is EcoTourism Certified and operates on 100% solar power. Its private concession location allows for low-impact but high-quality safari experiences. The 2024 rebuild further enhances sustainability standards while maintaining the camp’s strong conservation ethos.

Shinde Camp is fully solar-powered, and has accessibility solutions built into its infrastructure, including ramps for wheelchair-friendly access. It also uses locally produced artwork and furniture within its accommodation. The camp’s eco-conscious design extends to water and energy management, reducing its footprint while maintaining comfort.

LOCAL ECONOMY:
Shinde supports Chobe Impact, an independent not-for-profit initiative, and a portion of every full-paying guest’s stay supports vital work in education and wildlife research, contributing to community empowerment and conservation of the area, as well as supporting the local economy. Long-standing support also continues for initiatives such as Bana Ba Letsatsi, which works with vulnerable children, and the Dinaka Rhino Conservation Fund. By choosing to stay at Shinde, guests play a direct role in sustaining these programmes, helping improve livelihoods and protect wildlife. The camp also collaborates with local suppliers and artisans, ensuring that income generated benefits the surrounding communities.

EMPLOYMENT, INCLUSIVITY & DIVERSITY:
Both Kanana Camp and Shinde employ directly from their local communities. Kanana has a range of hospitality roles, operating a cocktail bar and plunge pool for guests, as well as a restaurant and dining area serving fresh seasonal produce. Shinde has a range of activities on offer to guests, including game drives with a personal guide, bush walks with a guide, mokoro canoe excursions, and a curio shop where guests can browse local wares and support small business owners. Both camps prioritise inclusivity, providing training and career development opportunities for staff across all roles. By investing in local talent, they foster a diverse and skilled workforce while promoting long-term community resilience.
