This combined journey to Cyprus and Malta is designed for minimal impact and maximum local benefit, in line with the EU Mediterranean Sustainable Tourism Strategy 2025. We champion slow travel—extended stays, compact group sizes (maximum 12 guests), and human-powered exploration. Many experiences are walking tours or hands-on archaeological visits, keeping daily travel light and low-carbon.

Both islands are at the forefront of renewable energy adoption. Cyprus leads the world in solar energy integration—over 93% of households use solar hot-water systems. Across our network, over 80% of partner hotels use renewable energy and detailed sustainability plans. In Malta, our restored heritage accommodation participates in Accor’s program to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050 and full eco-certification across all hotels by the end of 2026.

Meals spotlight regional cuisine and reduce food miles: organic produce and local wines are sourced within a 10 km radius in Cyprus and from independent Maltese farms and vineyards. Vegetarian and vegan choices are available daily, and partners follow food-waste auditing schemes aligned with the EU’s 2030 goal of a 60% reduction in food loss.

By travelling in spring and autumn, tours avoid high-season surges in heat, traffic, and electricity demand—key issues for both islands’ limited water and energy networks.

ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE

All accommodations practice water and waste conservation, using low-flow systems, solar panels, and recycling that diverts over two-thirds of refuse from landfill. Guests receive refillable water bottles, with refill points at hotels and sites to curb single-use plastic.

In Malta, entrance fees directly fund Heritage Malta, supporting active conservation, adaptive restoration, and digitization of the UNESCO-listed temple networks. In Cyprus, visits to local wildlife research and heritage centers contribute to ongoing biodiversity and cultural preservation initiatives.

LOCAL ECONOMY

Our tour keeps more than 85% of total spending within Cyprus and Malta through locally owned hotels, restaurants, and small farms. We visit family-run tavernas and wineries that sustain intergenerational livelihoods. Our schedule prioritizes off-peak operation, ensuring year-round employment in rural and coastal communities—a model now central to Mediterranean sustainable tourism policy.

EMPLOYMENT

Unlike all other archaeology and history tour companies, we do not fly in foreign experts. We support local and national universities by hiring local archaeologists, historians, and guides. We preferentially hire women as they are underrepresented in the Mediterranean in archaeological and historical disciplines.

INCLUSIVITY AND DIVERSITY

All professional staff—archaeologists, guides, drivers, and hospitality teams—are locally employed. Lead specialists from Cypriot, Northern Cypriot, and Maltese universities share firsthand excavation and research expertise, linking tourism to academic partnerships and heritage education. Staff are paid above the national minimum, ensuring fair conditions aligned with professional standards.

Tours are LGBTQ+ friendly and inclusive, and accessibility needs are addressed wherever sites allow. Walking itineraries and small-group pacing enable authentic interaction and reduced environmental strain.
