We educate our guests on how this self-regulating system prevents soil erosion and maintains biodiversity without the need for chemical fertilizers. Furthermore, we advocate for the protection of Fuxian Lake, China’s largest deep-water freshwater source. We encourage "Slow Travel" through the use of heritage narrow-gauge railways and electric high-speed trains where possible, significantly reducing the carbon footprint compared to traditional road-only tours. In Gasa, we support the Huayao Dai by visiting local grassroots markets and villages, ensuring that tourism revenue flows directly to the women who preserve their unique weaving and embroidery traditions. In Jianshui, our hands-on engagement with Purple Clay Pottery—a national intangible heritage—provides vital support for family-run workshops, helping to sustain a craft that predates the Ming Dynasty. We prioritize staying in locally-managed hotels and dining at family-run establishments that serve indigenous specialties like Cross-Bridge Rice Noodles and copper-pot fish. This "community-first" model ensures that a significant portion of the tour expenditure remains within the local economy. We also play a critical role in preserving historical memory by visiting the Centennial Yunnan-Vietnam Railway heritage.
