The trip includes entry fees to significant cultural and environmental sites like the Srebrenica Memorial Centre, which serves as an important preservation area for both historical and environmental heritage. Throughout the tour, Bosnian expert guides from local communities share first-hand perspectives on environmental challenges and the connection between landscape and cultural preservation. We engage with Bosnia's natural wonders including the turquoise waters of the Neretva and Buna rivers, cascading waterfalls around Jajce, and forested hills surrounding Sarajevo, all while ensuring minimal environmental impact through small group sizes and responsible travel practices. The tour highlights the seasonal rhythms of these landscapes and how they are connected to local culture and heritage.

This tour ensures tourism income benefits local communities by working exclusively with Bosnian tour guides, drivers, hotels, and restaurants throughout the journey. We feature accommodations that are locally owned rather than international chains, with stays in locally owned 4* hotels that directly support community livelihoods. The itinerary includes visits to local restaurants, craft markets, and cultural sites that provide direct economic opportunities for Bosnian artisans and producers. By co-creating this tour with Bosnians, we ensure that profits from tourism are kept within the communities visited, supporting small businesses and encouraging cultural exchange at authentic local venues. The tour maximizes local economic opportunities by engaging family-run establishments and supporting the preservation of traditional crafts and cultural practices. During the trip, we also provide information to our guests about where to buy locally crafted products.

EMPLOYMENT, INCLUSIVITY AND DIVERSITY

Our tours are community-led with 100% of guides, drivers, and local staff being from Bosnia and Herzegovina. We actively create income-generating opportunities for local community members by employing Bosnian guides, supporting locally owned accommodations, and contracting local transportation services. As we explore sites like the historic Stari Most in Mostar, visit the rebuilt mosque in Ahmici, and stroll through the historic center of Sarajevo, you will be led by Bosnian guides who will share stories of surviving the Bosnian Genocide. We will also be visiting the Srebrenica Memorial Centre where our guests will learn from first-hand accounts of surviving the genocide. This isn’t war tourism. This is community-led activism.
