CARBON REDUCTION

This self-guided walking short break in Andorra takes guests through Pyrenean valleys and alpine lake landscapes, from Soldeu to Escaldes-Engordany. It is slow by its very nature, with guests walking between 3-12km per day through forest trails, alpine meadows, mountain rivers and high-altitude paths.
With all of our tours, we encourage our guests to travel to and around Andorra using buses and shared transport whenever possible. Luggage transfers are provided from hotel to hotel, and a private transfer is included on day four to the start of the hike, while guests complete the walking routes themselves on foot.
The itinerary also gives guests the option to use local transport where needed, including the electric train or local bus.

ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE

This walking tour takes guests through some of Andorra’s Pyrenean landscapes, including Incles Valley, Cabana Sorda Lake, Siscaró Lakes, Madriu Perafita-Claror Valley and Lake Engolasters.
The route passes pine forest, alpine meadows, dry stone walls, mountain rivers, cobbled paths, former shepherds’ cabins and high mountain lakes. The tour page highlights Siscaró Lakes as a habitat for birds and mammals, including roe deer. The itinerary also passes through Madriu Perafita-Claror Valley, a UNESCO-listed cultural landscape.
We remind guests to practise Leave No Trace throughout their trip, especially when walking through alpine lakes, mountain valleys, forests and high-altitude trails.
With regards to drinking water, we ask guests to bring refillable water bottles as well as a reusable shopping bag to avoid single-use plastic during their trip. We also ask guests to take any packaging away with them and be mindful of not dropping litter.
We have an in-house expert, who shares tips and advice with our guests in trip notes, blogs and newsletters. For example, on how to reduce their impact on the environment and wildlife and respect the places and communities they pass through.
