Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.

Planet

In 2023, we became the first alpine company to completely withdraw from ski tourism relying on artificial snow and ski infrastructure.

For years, we watched the glaciers retreat, the mountain ecology strain, and the crowds swell. But February 2023 was the final straw: temperatures hit 21°C on the slopes, and the pistes were overcrowded beyond enjoyment. The disconnect between nature and winter tourism became impossible to ignore.

So, in 2024, we made a bold shift.

We now only offer trips with low environmental impact, off the ski grid, and accessible by train from the UK and much of Europe.

What We Offer Instead

We now create holistic adventure sport holidays, retreats, and learning journeys that awaken:
• A reverence for the natural world
• A renewed connection to self and others
• And a simpler, more intentional way of living

You’ll stay in locally owned farmhouses, eco chalets, or Outdoor Centres.

When we cater, we provide a vegetarian menu with a meat option, and we encourage awareness around energy use, water consumption, and food waste. We also practice ‘no impact’ hiking, and we:
• Recycle: metal, plastic, glass, cardboard, and paper
• Compost all food waste
• Encourage conscious consumption and minimal waste

Sustainable Travel & Local Transport

All our trips are train-accessible from the UK — and we truly encourage low-carbon journeys.

To support this, we usually provide:
• Minibus transfers from the closest train station
• Group transport for local activities
• A request that guests arrive at the same time where possible, to minimise trips and reduce our overall footprint

This isn’t about perfection — it’s about intention.
Travel can be a powerful force for good when done with care, consciousness, and community.

SUPPORTING LOCAL GUIDES & WELLBEING PRACTITIONERS

We outsource all of our adventure and holistic activities to the best local guides, teachers, and practitioners — people we know personally, trust deeply, and align with philosophically.

We do not add any commission or mark-up to their services.

Our guides are passionate about nature connection, wilderness safety, and sustainable, low-impact travel. Many of them live in the valley year-round or work seasonally — and our trips help provide meaningful employment in this small rural economy.

You’re directly supporting the livelihoods of local people who carry deep knowledge of the land and genuinely care for its wellbeing.

LOW-IMPACT ADVENTURE

All the activities we suggest are carefully chosen for their low environmental impact. These include:
• White water rafting
• Parapenting
• Rock climbing
• Canyoning
• Hiking
• Yoga & tai chi
• Massage & holistic therapies

We only work with professionals who respect the land, leave no trace, and help our guests engage with nature in a responsible, reverent way.
