1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Daily change was fun2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Don't overpack - we wore same clothing most days3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Yes. We stayed in small towns that weren’t very touristed4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Our main negative comment was the 1st to tell we stayed in. It was on the main street, extraordinarily noisy, the air-conditioning did not work, The windows only had voile curtains so room was bright all night. Not a great start to the following days cycling. The breakfast option was very poor, it contained mostly prepackaged items, certainly not fresh delicious Greek food. We did not feel that the bikes were suitable for the conditions especially on the first day. These conditions were gravel, sand, potholes etc. Mountain bikes would’ve been way more suitable. For the entire trip in my opinion. Day2 and three accommodation was clean and basic nothing in comparison with Day four and five which were exceptional. We would’ve preferred not to stay in the second Village for two nights. I think our overall take from the trip was the final stop was not a good option. There was no town, their accommodation was a 15 minute walk away and turn itself wasn’t worth visiting. That was a shame to end the trip on a low. We enjoyed the opportunity to see different parts of the area, but locations could be improved which could still incorporate a full day of cycling.Read the operator's response here:
Hello Nicola,
Thank you once again for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We genuinely value all comments, as they help us improve our services and better understand our guests' experiences.
Regarding the first hotel, even though there are hotels located close to the center of Kalamata, we selected this property because of its excellent beachfront location and its convenient walking distance to local restaurants and amenities. We were sad to hear that it did not fully meet your expectations, particularly as it is a hotel we have been using successfully for many years on both our cycling and hiking tours, and we have generally received positive feedback from our guests.
As for the two-night stay in Petalidi, this was a deliberate choice in the design of the itinerary. Petalidi is an authentic coastal village in Messinia, retaining much of its traditional character and offering visitors the opportunity to experience everyday local life away from the more developed tourist resorts. We have found that many of our guests particularly enjoy this aspect of the tour, as it allows them to connect more closely with the region and its people. The location also serves as an excellent base for one of the most scenic cycling days of the trip, including access to the beautiful Polylimnio area. Petalidi is the only location where we could offer our guests to do this roundtrip to Polylimnio, and this trip in general doesn’t offer many chances for roundtrips or 2-night stays for our guests to relax a bit more at the same hotel.
Regarding the last hotel, this is another property that we have worked with for a long time and that has consistently met the expectations of our guests. Its beachfront setting and proximity to the charming village of Kalo Nero, just a short walk away, have always been appreciated by travelers.
Finally, the route is designed primarily around paved roads, with only limited sections of gravel or dirt tracks. The most notable unpaved stretch occurs on the first day, where the route follows the coastline to provide a more scenic riding experience and access to areas that would not be possible using only the main roads. The quieter rural roads that we have selected throughout the itinerary occasionally include uneven surfaces or potholes, largely because we prioritize low-traffic roads over busier main roads. While these roads may not always be maintained to the same standard as major routes, they generally offer a more enjoyable and safer cycling experience.
For your tour, road bikes were provided, which is a bicycle type that has been successfully used on this itinerary by many previous guests over the years. Based on our experience, road bikes are well suited to the predominantly asphalt nature of the route. Nevertheless, we appreciate your perspective and understand that some cyclists may prefer a different style of bicycle depending on their riding preferences and comfort level. The idea of having mountain bikes for this tour, which is an option that we can offer to guess upon request, would be okay for the first day of the trip but for the rest days it wouldn’t work so well, because the guests are stack with a much heavier and slower bike with wider tires for the rest of the whole trip.
We hope that, despite these points, you were able to enjoy many of the beautiful landscapes, villages, and experiences that the Peloponnese has to offer. Thank you again for choosing to travel with us and we hope to welcome you again to our beautiful country.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
It was a fantastic holiday. We saw parts of Greece off the beaten track. The highlight was definitely cycling to the waterfalls and swimming in the crystal clear pools.2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Everything was very well organised and easy to follow. It was very hot when we went in June. I think the weather was particularly warm for the time of year but it may be better to do the holiday in April, May or September to avoid the hottest weather.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
All the hotels were small and family runs so it was nice to support them and see parts of the country which hadn't become overly touristy.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
The holiday was excellent. I cannot speak highly enough of the company. The organisation was perfect and all the hotels were excellent.Patricia Duffy review 23 Jul 2024

Dear Patricia,
In this tour you stayed only in local hotels, the luggage transfer company is a local company, we are a local company and all our employees are locals too. Also, all the taverns and restaurants suggested in the tour info are also small local businesses with local cuisine. In addition, this tour being a cycling tour is obviously an environmental friendly tour that reduces environmental impact.
It is nice to see that you posted a positive review the price of this tour is at the range of any other self-guided tour in Europe with similar inclusions, the scenery and the beaches are amazing and it has great reviews. Since you don’t clarify any of your negative comments we can only guess that these have to do only with your frustration at the beginning of the tour when we didn’t accept your invalid request of renting helmets for your group without paying. As we explained on the spot, providing helmet for free is not a requirement as most cyclists can and do bring their own helmets. Helmet rental pricing is no secret or hidden fee. It is published in our website and of course you were informed by email like every guest before your booking. At the price of 10€ for the whole week it is a rather reasonable service price.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
The whole Greek experience - wonderful sites, wonderful food, wonderful discoveries, wonderful people!2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Definitely opt for the self-guided option - the GPS app is accurate and user-friendly. It gave us the chances to stop and investigate, take pics or have an ice cream wherever we wanted to. Make sure that you have a power bank for your mobile. If you use reading glasses take a strap to carry them around your neck.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
The small scale produce farmers and fisherman seemed to be supplying the restaurants, so yes that seemed to be a benefit. Small scale local farms reduce the need for long distance transportation, however it is important the local distribution network benefits all. Some concerns about farm dogs on short chains with little access to water and shade - this can create a rather stressful riding experience - I'm sure a small intervention from an NGO would be suitable.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
One of the best holidays we've had!!!Carron McDiarmid review 25 May 2022
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
The guided tours were fascinating and the museums were all first class.2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Be prepared to be busy during every day. There is so much to see and the programme enables it all.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Yes, all guides were local and accommodation and wine testing were family run.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Excellent week on archaeology tour and customised 2nd week for relaxing and sightseeing.Ray Dixon review 2 Jul 2018
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Cycling over mountains in heavy thunderstorms2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
You need to be physically fit and be prepared for the unexpected (e.g. encounters with stray dogs, large potholes in roads, rough tracks etc).3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
The holiday supported the incomes of local people. Cycling obviously lessens environmental impacts compared with touring by car.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
In terms of weather, this was the most unusual week I have ever spent in Greece during the summer. There was heavy rain almost every day, with a red alert for dangerous thunderstorms for most of the time. Nevertheless, the route passed through areas of outstanding beauty and interesting Byzantine historical sites. The hired bike could have been better, but overall this was a very exhilarating holiday.Wayne Goodman review 22 Oct 2018
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
The actual cycling was most memorable, and the beach time. It was the purpose of the trip and well recalled!2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Spend extra time on the beach after your trip if you can. Kalamata or many of the other cities are very beach worthy!3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Yes.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Moderate. I had a wonderful holiday, but it was not without serious issues that could've been avoided if the operator was more on top of the game.Read the operator's response here:

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Meeting an old woman and her goat on a back road outside Petalidi. Couldn't understand a word she said except for "kafe" but with body language I understood she was inviting us for a coffee after our ride. A great example of being able to get closer to the people in a country visited.2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Don't go in the hot months! We were there in Late July, and were spent at the end of our ride each day.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Certainly by biking and buying from small businesses we contributed. Also interaction with the local people must have had a positive impact for both cultures.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
I would use this method of travel again. Great experience in Greece!Alison Whyte review 27 Sep 2015
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Visiting Koroni, Methoni and Pylos - beautiful, historic seaside towns.2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
You need to be pretty fit as there is a lot of uphill cycling! The last two days were fairly easy going as the coastal road was flat, but the first few days were very hilly and one day especially, we cycled up a mountain and down the other side.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Cycling is always environmentally friendly and the local people seemed pleased to cater for tourists in what is a very difficult economic climate.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
I would rate the holiday with 3 or 4 stars. I would only recommend the holiday to a very fit friend!Holiday Reviews
