In terms of weather, this was the most unusual week I have ever spent in Greece during the summer. There was heavy rain almost every day, with a red alert for dangerous thunderstorms for most of the time. Nevertheless, the route passed through areas of outstanding beauty and interesting Byzantine historical sites. Read full review

Meeting an old woman and her goat on a back road outside Petalidi. Couldn't understand a word she said except for "kafe" but with body language I understood she was inviting us for a coffee after our ride. A great example of being able to get closer to the people in a country visited. Read full review

Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.

Planet

Taking care of the natural environment is something that we really concern ourselves with. Not only because a pure and beautiful environment is necessary for the basis of a great cycling tour, but mainly because we live here and our children do too.

There are several things that we do to apply our policy about the protection of the environment. All our tours are small group tours, so there is more control of the environmental impact. We inform all the clients about guidelines that they should follow to protect the environment. All the hotels we chose are small family businesses that have minimum effect on the environment, not only because of their size but also because of their policies.

Finally, we understand that no matter what we do, the footprint of the traveller will be left. This is why we organize a reforestation project offering 5 euros per person and accepting donations to plant trees in areas that were hit by great fires during the summer.

People

Although this specific part of Greece, Messinia, is popular to tourists and well developed, it is still unharmed and beautiful. The community has managed to maintain all the original characteristics that differentiate it from others, something that you will also come to understand when you are here.

In terms of our responsible tourism policy, we organise all our tours in a way that the locals benefit as much as possible from the tourists. We are locals, all our employees are locals, and all our cooperators like the hotels that we choose are locals too. All these people really need your presence here but on the other hand in this way you will also come as close as possible to the Messinian culture.

We work hard on the responsible development of tourism in the area. Our plans are to convince the state to create official cycling paths in and between the towns, which everyone will be able to use and will improve the quality of life for the locals too.
