1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Seeing an elephant being born.2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
This is not like a normal relaxing holiday. There’s a lot of ‘education’ so you will come away knowing much more about the country you have visited, the real issues, problems and culture of Sri Lanka and not just what the tourist board wants you to believe. Be prepared to be lectured - if this isn’t for you, don’t book this trip.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Yes, we went to several places eg drama/dance centres, the university and saw benefits that had come from the operator. We also had a day with the leading elephant conservationist and having been informed about cruelty to elephants, were able to spread the word.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
The trip team were great. It was unfortunate that the whole group got D and V from the first hotel - Galle Face in Colombo, as did other hotel guests. Due to this we effectively missed the first 4-5 days of the holiday. I think that the Galle Face should provide compensation for this. However, the rest of the holiday was good, particularly the National Park and Nilaveli and hotels The Other Corner and Amanta beach resort.Read the operator's response here:
