1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

I loved the chances to wander around towns layered with history from era upon era. The visit to the Rundale Palace was spectacular, but I love a palace. The opportunity to connect with real people on the ground was neat, as well. Seeing the renovations in progress at Blankenfeld Manor, and hearing the story from the family who bought it; talking to and dining with the owners at Rumkanai Manor; making dinner with the cousins of the owner at Vila Luna. All terrific.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

August was a terrific time to visit - nothing was too busy, everything was open, etc. Riga Old Town on the weekend is a bit rowdy. Not at all a problem, but on a long weekend or a weekend in summer, I suspect there are quite a few bucks and hens weekends in town.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Definitely. Everything was very local, filled with people from the community that we visited who cared about what we were doing or seeing.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
