1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Travelling through local villages as part of game drives. Seeing my first ever tigers and wolves in the wild. Meeting people who worked in the salt pans. Staying at 5 completely different lodges (all with very spacious rooms).2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Know in advance that it is now illegal to use a mobile phone (for photos or anything) in tiger reserves throughout India- but cameras are OK (but in some parks without tigers you need to pay to bring in a camera, but mobile phones are fine). If you are used to African safaris - be aware that in India there is usually a drive of 30-45 minutes to get to the wildlife - you are not already in the park (but driving through villages is interesting),3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
All lodges good about not using one-use plastic. Many grew their own vegies. I think all hired locals. Noticed in one place the local village from where most employees came from was notably cleaner than most villages in the area. Surprised that many had outdoor lighting (lanterns) that were electrical and not solar,4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Except for the issue of not being able to take photos in the tiger reserves (I had been relying on my phone for photos), I had a great holiday. I think I'm leaving weighing more than when I arrived (all lodges provided a surplus of yummy food).Holiday Reviews
