We believe in tourism that prioritizes minimal impact on the natural environment and local culture, while generating income and employment for local communities. This approach—known as responsible tourism—is both ecologically and culturally sensitive. Local people play a central role in sustainable tourism by actively participating in and taking responsibility within the industry.

We encourage local communities to sell handicrafts, share stories, and interact with visitors, allowing travelers to experience authentic Himalayan culture in a meaningful way.

Our guides provide practical guidance on environmental protection throughout the trek. This includes avoiding littering, disposing of waste only in designated areas, establishing controlled fire points during camping treks, and, where possible, providing food waste to domestic animals. We also encourage trekkers to contribute small amounts to porters to help carry non-disposable waste back by duffel bag.

To protect fragile mountain ecosystems, bathing or washing clothes in streams is discouraged. Group sizes are limited to a maximum of 16 participants, helping to reduce environmental impact and preserve the natural surroundings.

During this trek, participants have the opportunity to contribute to the Everest Conservation Project, which plays a crucial role in environmental protection and community development in the Everest region. The conservation area supports rich biodiversity, including rare and endangered species such as the snow leopard, musk deer, Tibetan argali, Impeyan pheasant, and Tragopan pheasant. The project protects habitats ranging from subtropical Sal forests to permanent snowfields, helping maintain biodiversity and the ecological integrity of the central Himalayas.

People

We maximize our contribution to local communities by employing experienced local guides and porters who are deeply familiar with the region’s culture and terrain. Clients are encouraged to hire porters, creating valuable employment opportunities and ensuring that tourism income flows directly into the local economy. For safety and well-being, porters carry no more than 25 kg.

Accommodation is provided in locally owned lodges and teahouses, supporting community livelihoods while minimizing environmental impact. These establishments primarily use kerosene or gas fuel instead of firewood, helping to reduce deforestation.

We are proud to partner with the registered charity Chhahari Group Nepal, which has been serving Nepali society since 2001. The organization focuses on projects that directly benefit communities affected by natural disasters and socio-political challenges. Its initiatives include orphanages, community schools, health camps, and scholarship programs. Currently, Chhahari Group Nepal supports a free community school for children from extremely disadvantaged families who would otherwise be unable to access formal education.
