By using train journeys from Delhi to Rishikesh and Amritsar to Delhi, boat tranfers in Rishikesh, walking tours at Haridwar, Rishikesh, Shimal, Naddi Walk Dharamshala and Village tour in Amritsar. We offer two train journeys, boat transfers, auto rickshaw rides and walking tours to reduce carbon footprints.

The accommodation has a landscape/roof top garden. The Zion Hotel Shimla utilises rainwater Harvesting, Plastic Reduction, Waste Management (Managing And Disposing Waste according to government guidelines), as well as Native Plant Landscaping.

Rakkh Resort Palampur (near Dharamshala) monitors and reduces carbon emissions is a critical part of Rakkh Resort’s commitment to responsible tourism and climate resilience. As a nature-based destination located in the ecologically sensitive Himalayan region,they recognize the importance of minimizing our greenhouse gas (GHG) footprint to protect the landscapes that define our guest experience. Since 2024, Rakkh Resort has calculated its greenhouse gas emissions. This baseline effort establishes a consistent internal process for tracking and reporting emissions in future years. Integrating renewable energy sources and reducing fossil fuel use in cooking and backup power systems will be key to long-term decarbonization.

Although the state of Himachal Pradesh has historically had abundant water due to its glacier-fed rivers and forested catchments, the region is increasingly facing water stress linked to erratic rainfall and climate variability. This includes the Kangra district, where Rakkh Resort is located. They source water from two main supplies: a municipal connection, which serves guest rooms, the kitchen, laundry, and staff areas; and an on-site stream, which provides water for irrigation, drinking, and refilling the swimming pool. While internal estimates help track consumption, metered volumetric data from the municipality is currently unavailable, limiting our ability to monitor usage precisely.

They have planted planted 200 Deodar (Cedrus deodara) trees in the protected zone.

They repurpose landscaping waste as mulch to retain soil moisture and improve plant health, reducing the need for external inputs. This practice supports our native planting strategy and aligns with our low-impact land management approach.

They also engage guests in our mission. During nature walks, we provide trash bags and encourage a leave-no-trace ethic. they avoid single-use plastics and ask guests to refill their water bottles and stay on marked trails to minimize disturbance to native flora.

She Haat Cafι in Sarhan - this restaurant is a rural women-run cooperative, offering authentic traditional pahari food and the project is managed by group of women trained and equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge.

All employees are from our country and most of the hail from the local communities at Rishikesh, Shimla, Dharamashala and Amritsar. staff is paid as per the minimum wages law in India.
