Description of Peru Amazon tour, 4 days
Immerse yourself in the exotic beauty of the Amazon in Peru on a four-day jungle adventure. A motorized canoe takes you into the heart of the rainforest, where you’ll stay in an atmospheric nature lodge lit by candles and kerosene lamps. Wake to the twitter and buzz of exotic birds then enjoy a jungle trek accompanied by a guide who can teach you about the area’s rich flora and fauna and the healing properties of native plants. A river cruise heads to the oxbow lake where giant otters live and takes in the clay cliffs and banks where hundreds of macaw come to feed on the salt found here – a mysterious daily ritual that’s riotously colourful and noisy. This is a short but very sweet introduction into the friendly people and intriguing creatures of the Amazon.

Responsible Travel
Planet
The very ethos of our style of travel is responsible; small groups on fully escorted tours, experiencing the very best of a region, a culture and a landscape, with a friendly local hand guiding the way. Our itineraries are designed to give our travellers real life experiences without compromising the part of the world we are exploring; to travel responsibly is at the heart of our commitment as a global tour operator. This three night short break takes you into the heart of the Peruvian Amazon. Staying in a jungle lodge you will spend your time exploring the surroundings, venturing into the jungle on foot with a local guide, traversing waterways by motorised canoe and keeping a watchful eye out for jungle inhabitants. While on this trip, environmental issues are a primary concern as the rainforest must be protected as well as enjoyed.
It is important travellers remain hydrated in the humidity of the jungle and we recommend travelling with a refillable water bottle and using purification products rather than purchasing regular supplies of bottled water.
The sale of bottled water contributes to an enormous environmental problem around the world. In addition to the water actually in the bottles, the production of a 1 litre plastic bottle takes 2 litres of water and 200ml of oil. Once discarded a large proportion of these end up in limited landfill or discarded in waterways and natural environments and we believe that their use should be discouraged.
People
The lodge itself is simple but comfortable, staffed mainly by locals. Your guides will be experts in the region’s wildlife and surroundings and are the ideal leaders with which to explore this stunning environment. In order to keep the jungle pristine, we ask that you keep all litter with you when away from the lodge, disposing of it appropriately upon your return to the accommodation. Your guide will encourage you to stick to the marked paths and trails while out in the jungle and will also request that you don’t pick at any of the flora as you pass. These measures are as much to protect travellers as they are to protect the rainforest itself.Due to the remote location of this trip, all meals are included and will be prepared by the staff at the lodge. You can expect all ingredients to have been sourced locally in Puerto Maldonado
