Description of Maldives snorkelling & marine life awareness tour
This Maldives snorkelling tour combines island-hopping with expert-led snorkelling. Expect clear, warm waters, vibrant coral reefs and a chance to connect with the marine environment while also gaining a deeper understanding of island life.
Over eight days, you’ll travel between islands in North Male and North Ari atolls, including Rasdhoo, Ukulhas and Mathiveri. Each stop offers a different perspective, from lively local communities to quieter islands. Days are spent snorkelling from beaches and by boat, exploring house reefs and nearby sites, with time to relax on sandy shores or wander through villages. Guided excursions and transfers between islands ensure a smooth journey, while allowing for flexibility and downtime.
Snorkelling is at the heart of the experience and there are opportunities to encounter a wide variety of marine life. You may spot turtles, rays and reef sharks as well as colourful tropical fish. With guidance from a knowledgeable local leader, you’ll not only discover the underwater world but also learn how these ecosystems function and why they need protection, turning each swim into a more meaningful experience.
Using small, handpicked guest houses and hotels means you get a more immersive way to experience the Maldives, away from resort enclaves. Staying on inhabited islands also provides insight into Maldivian culture, from daily life to local cuisine, while your guides promote respectful behaviour around both communities and marine life.
You can join scheduled group tours, or go tailor made for this trip. Either way, this is a relaxed yet enriching way to discover the Maldives, combining excellent snorkelling with cultural connection and a strong sense of place.

FANTASTIC, the snorkeling guide was knowledgeable and safety minded, hotels were better than I could have imagined( all locally staffed, and I felt part of the community), the experience was more than I hoped for, well organized, our guide gave us “university” talks and taught us all day long about fishes, Maldives, mantas , plants, overall we should have received 3 credits for our “Maldives course” ??

ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE
We actively support the protection and conservation of the Maldives’ delicate marine and island ecosystems. Our marine life education hub, conservation partnerships, and code of conduct for marine wildlife interactions encourage respectful snorkelling and diving. Our tours contribute directly to marine research and coral health through citizen science initiatives, beach clean-ups, and educational collaborations.
We support NGOs like Save the Beach Maldives, Maldives Resilient Reefs, MWSRP, and Olive Ridley Project, focusing on coral rehabilitation and protection of marine life, with donations made on tours where we engage with representatives of the NGO.
Guests receive pre-arrival resources and are guided on responsible snorkeling conduct, local threats, such as the introduction of invasive species (e.g., crown-of-thorns starfish), and how they can help mitigate spread through responsible behavior and awareness.
