Trekking and mountain biking in Peru

Description of Trekking and mountain biking in Peru
An epic, active adventure; this three-week tailor made holiday takes you through some of Peru’s most spectacular regions. Spend two days acclimatising in historic Cusco, four days mountain biking through the Sacred Valley into Andean cloud forest and six days deep in the Amazon before returning to Cusco for a four-day trek along the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. Staying in a mix of basic hotels, ecolodges and campsites along the way.
Cusco’s colonial streets and Incan alleyways are the perfect welcome to Peru. After two days exploring the city jump on your mountain bike to pedal through the Sacred Valley to the lively artisan market at Pisac, and onwards to the Eastern Andean town of Paucartambo. Travel in mid-July to experience its famous Festival of the Virgin of Carmen. Sunrise over the jungle at Tres Cruces is a spectacular start to your final day of biking before you set off on your jungle adventure.
Home to a wealth of indigenous wildlife including giant otters, monkeys, giant anteaters, black caiman and the elusive jaguar, the Manu Biosphere Reserve protects one of the Amazon’s most important areas of pristine forest. From jungle campsites and lodges, and with expert guides, you’ll spend five days exploring deep into the virgin rainforest by boat and on foot, binoculars at the ready.
Finally return to Cusco by bus to spend four days trekking the classic Inca Trail, arriving at the Sun Gate at dawn to watch the sun rise over the legendary Incan citadel, Machu Picchu.

It is our policy to carefully dispose of all waste. All non-organic waste is carried out and organic waste is buried at a suitable depth. Food is purchased locally and we use food products with as little packaging as possible, and encourage cooking with Andean products. We cook with gas and use recyclable glass as opposed to plastic wherever possible.People
When out on tour we encourage learning about the country we are travelling in, the local culture of the teams we work with and the areas we pass through. Our guides hold informal talks with groups to inform about and discuss with them all aspects of local life. This helps understanding of the area and appreciation of the people who live there. We are also now supporting the UK registered chairty Amantani. As this charity is very much in keeping with our ethos of small scale, targetted help which is educational & sustainabale. HuchuyYachaq is the other main Peruvian charity we support by paying a for a full time teacher. A % of all our income goes to support those projects.
